Does My Cat need to be able to reach her bottom while in labor?

My cat is nearing the end of her pregnancy. She has very short legs to begin with and a smaller, more compact frame. She has grown so much with the pregnancy that she can no longer reach her hind legs, her genitals or her bum. I have seen many cats give birth and in each circumstance they lick their genitals. They also need to be able to reach the kittens. She has been dragging her bum around in lieu of cleaning and I've been helping her with wet wipes but I am concerned about labor. Doesn't she need to be able to reach that area not just when the kittens are crowning but also to progress the labor?

Hi, not really. She will need to lick the kittens once they come out to get them cleaned up. Many pregnant cats can't reach their rears by the end of pregnancy.

They're licking to keep themselves clean, it will not hinder labor if she cannot. She'll birth the kitten and then turn around and clean it etc. And once she's done birthing and her tummy shrinks down, a day or so, she'll be able to clean herself again. [emoji]128522[/emoji]
