I've been lurking here for awhile and first wanted to thank you all for your informative posts and supportive community! I would be lost without this site.

By the way, we plan to spay Buttercup asap. I already have the funds set aside to fix her and kittens. This pregnancy was an accident, she climbed out of the house through the dryer vent on March 13th and returned on March 15th.

I am assuming she is about 64 days along. She lost her mucous plug about ten days ago. She's been affectionate and nesting. Clawed my leg pretty good last night nest building under the covers!

Her temp dropped this morning by two degrees. I've been monitoring it for about a week under the arm to prevent discomfort. Today she is purring loudly and staying in her nest. She had a little creamy discharge at about noon. I can still see kitten movement and she still has an appetite. Can we now assume kittens in the next 24 hours? Or is she putting us on? :)

This is my first experience with kitty birth, it's all I can do to sit still!

Welcome!  It certainly sounds as its near now. Although we cant know the exact hour.   Do rub her tummy if she wishes!  It is not only a nice massage, it helps also to stimulate the hormones coming.

Yeah, no wonder she climbed out. No fault of you, it was sheer nature.  She was in heat, and felt a tom calling nearby.  Where do you think Houdini learned his tricks?  He surely studied the cats.  In his time spaying and neutering wasnt common, so he had lotsa of study material.   :)

Haha! Very true! She does love her tummy rubs. I have a birthing kit and a good book ready, ordered pizzas for the kids, and now we are both comfortable in the bed ready for anything!

Re: Her age - I sort of talked a cat hoarder into handing her over so we could give her a good life. They did not know much about her, the lady had good intentions to rescue her and several others and somehow ended up with eighteen cats! I immediately felt Buttercup belonged with us. She has visited the vet and they said about a year old, maybe a little younger. She is just a baby herself. She saw our vet just a few days before she got out and again after we discovered her pregnancy. The little stinker gave us no time to spay her! Luckily we live in Houston and there are several nearby resources for cheap spay/neuter.

Buttercup is currently shredding the material under our mattress and ignoring her cozy nest! Here's a photo of her from a few days ago.

Does she have two different color eyes? It sure looks like it in the picture!

No kittens yet! She is pretty much staying in her nest. She is super clingy today. And more vocal than normal. She is hugging my hand when I pet her! So sweet. Some discharge and lots of licking her lady parts. I will definitely share photos when the babies arrive. More waiting in store for us today, it seems.. Those kittens already have a place in my heart. Can't wait to meet them!

As long as I keep a hand nearby she is fine. She's sleeping now, I might be able to take a break. The discharge comes and goes. Mostly she just sleeps. I'm trying to focus on enjoying our snuggly time and not worrying about when and where. They have to come out eventually, but I will definitely sleep better once the kittens arrive.

End of pregnancy cats frequently seek almost non-stop comfort from their humans. They need reassurance just as humans do. I always feel sorry for ferals and strays giving birth alone outside. [emoji]128528[/emoji]

One beautiful baby. Thank goodness there weren't more! I felt pretty guilty thinking about adding to the cat population. We planned on keeping one so it worked out rather perfectly.

He weighed 112g and has all the milkies to himself. Mama and baby are cozy in their nest. He is the color of coffee and cream so we are calling him Joe.
