Hi, I have a cat named spike who loves going outside with his brother warrior and when spike came back home one day he was limping I know that cats can heal there selves but can they heal their paw because his paw is swollen and getting bigger and bigger and he seems like he's doing fine he likes to eat and still go out side his paw got hurt before and he didn't Want to eat then but he recovered but another accident happened and it looks like puss or blood is coming out of his right front paw right in the middle of his paw and I don't know what happened and I really love him that I'm crying about it now please anybody god, jesus, citizens, people tell me what to do to help fix spike cause his paw is bent down and he won't move it up or move it in any kind of way and if you touch it he starts crying he still licks his self but his brother worrier has to lick his hurt paw for him and I don't want him to suffer and some of the vets ideas is probably to put him to sleep and I really don't want that to happen and I don't even have money for a new vet I just really want spike to survive and heal please help.

Spike really does need to go to a vet but it is highly doubtful a vet will recommend putting him to sleep for an injured paw so I wouldn't worry about that.  The main thing is that Spike is suffering, possibly with an infected paw,  and you need to get him some medical attention ASAP..  I totally understand the financial issues but Spike needs help now.  Fortunately there are some options out there for low or no cost vet care.

The following article might help:  http://www.thecatsite.com/a/no-money-for-vet-care-how-to-find-help-and-save-your-cats-life

If you are in the United States, you can also check out the Humane Society of the United States for some info:

Also, if you are in the United States, you might be near a VCA animal hospital.  They offer a free initial exam to new patients.  Unless Spike needs X-rays or blood work, it's possible your only charge would be for antibiotics.  http://www.vcahospitals.com/main/offer

Please let us know how it goes.  I hope you can get Spike some relief quickly!

the best thing to do is get him to the vet, ASAP. He's in a lot of pain and sounds infected! I doubt the vet would put him to sleep for that.. they will most likely put him on antibiotics, clean the wound and take it from there.

If you can't afford a vet, see if they're willing to work a payment plan with you. Care Credit is a good credit card that a lot of vets accept- interest free for X amount of time.

check out the above link, it should help you too.

Is your boy neutered? He might've gotten into a fight with another tom-cat.. if he did, cat bites are nasty and wounds won't heal as easily. Please, do get him to the vets

I created an account just to post on this!

I understand the concern. My boy at my mum's house came in a few weeks ago with a massive paw, blood everywhere, and it was at least 3 times as big as it should have been, and it looked as though his nail had been yanked out. She lumped him along to the vets (not easy as he hates the place) and after an attempt to clean it, the vet advised my mum to wash it with salt and water as often as possible, and to bring him back if there was any more pus, or if the swelling got bigger.

He also got a wee shot of antibiotic.

3 weeks later, the skin has healed, the hair is growing back, and the nail has returned! It's a bit shorter than the others, but it's getting there.

The vets are the best place to take them. My Sam could have lost his toe but with a bit of attention and a dedicated cleaning routine, he was back to himself!

I hope you get it sorted.
