Hey guys,

We've had our new cat about two weeks now. I'm probably worrying unnecessarily, but today she threw up twice within about the space of an hour. The first time was quite a lot, and solid, including some undigested food. The second time was more liquid.

We have kept  the dry food she was eating at the shelter available to her, but have been giving her some wet food (Nature's Menu) as well as some raw meat. We started by feeding less than a teaspoon of the raw meat and are probably up at about a tablespoon now.

Ideally I'd like to transition her off dry food entirely. The first few days she wouldn't eat wet food at breakfast, but now she's eating small meals of wet food three - four times a day (we have a kitten as well, and prefer to feed little and often).

Am I over-feeding her? Should I be worried about a bigger health issue? And should I take her off the raw straight away?

Apologies - though I've had cats before, this is the first adult cat we have ever adopted, so it is taking me a long time to get used to what is normal for her, and I want to do the best thing for her, which is why I'd prefer to have her on the raw...

Any help much appreciated :)

Well, it's hard to say, honestly.  Are you giving her any additives, live probiotics and/or digestive enzymes?  I know when I started feeding mine raw, i had already started giving them both of those supplements to get their little tummies ready for it.  AND, did she come with a clean bill of health?

When she threw it, did it include that tablespoon of raw?  Some cats have problems with certain proteins, and that could be the problem.  I'm guessing you are just using one specific protein (raw) for now? If so, if she continues vomiting, maybe try a different one?  If it continues, then I guess I'd either first convert her to a canned food diet and then try to convert her to raw.  In any case, I would definitely add in some probiotics for a healthy gut.  And, naturally, if it continues, I would take her in for a Vet visit, since vomiting isn't normal.

It's possible that she's intolerant of one of the ingredients in the wet food, or if it's a fish flavored food, the fish.
