My cat had six beautiful kittens three days ago. Sometimes, when she gets up from feeding them and laying with them, she walks kind of funny. She seems like she's in a little bit of pain and like she loses some coordination. But, after walking around for a little bit she's perfectly fine. She's tending to her kittens wonderfully, too. I am just wondering if this has happened to anyone before? She almost seems like her muscles are just tense from laying around all day and they need stretched out. I'm just wondering if this is normal?

She may just be stiff and still have a sore bottom from giving birth. The fact she gets back to normal after a bit is encouraging.

Nursing six kittens is hard on mom. Is she eating well - both kitten chow and plenty of wet food? I always recommend that moms drink a dish of KMR (powdered PetAg in the can) every day for the calcium.

I would keep an eye on her the next day or two and see if she improves even more. If it gets worse (doesn't go away after she stretches and walks), you'll need to see a vet.

Are the kittens all nursing well and gaining weight? Is there a runt?

Yes, I have dry food out constantly and I feed her wet food through out the day. I'm deffinelty gonna try to get that calcium supplement, thank you for that. Do you know if I need to get it at a pet store or do places like Walmart carry that? And there is a runt, but they're deffinelty growing quickly and gaining weight

My Walmart in Florida has it. That is where this can came from. About $10.

Otherwise, pet stores carry it.

Let me know how your cat is tomorrow! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

SArthur talks about kmr, ie kitte mothermilk replacement as an extra calcium source here.  This is btw always wise to have at home as an emergency reserve, both for kittens if needed, and even for momma.

Of course, there are other calcium sources, alike goats milk, plain unswetened youghurt, or eggshells crushed into a fine powder.  (eggshells are almost pure calcium)

Pet shops and Walmart surely carry also especial preparates for added calcium, useful for cats and humans.

Let me tell this straight.  the reasons why both SArthur and me talk about some extra calcium.

One reason is, with 6 babies, it will always be something you must have observance for.  Although normally it will be enough with what is in good, nourishing food.

But the other reason is, beginning deficiency of calcium may show of with these symptoms.   So giving her extra calcium asap, you will cover both these variations.

Sprinkling some fine powder from crushed egg shells over her food is quite effective.
