Hello! My name is Azeira Hawke, but please, call me Hawke. I got this amazing chubby chubberson a few weeks ago, and his name is Sky.

He is very loving, and will attack you with head butts and kneading, and even a little drool if you really get him purring.

He is around 1 year and 8 months old,

So far, he has just been settling in, so we have not yet established a meal schedule, (we are aiming for him to lose weight,) and I would still like him to sleep with me.

If you have any advice on these things, it will be appreciated!

Welcome to the site! Sky is a lovely cat. I'm not sure how you get a cat to sleep in bed with you. In my experience, cats either want to sleep with you or don't. We have our cats closed into our bedroom at night to keep them from getting into everything everywhere else in the house. They sometimes will both snuggle in bed with us, but other times they sleep in their window perches or on their cat tower. It seems to be based on cat whims.

Welcome to the site!!

I am sure everyone will agree he's a very handsome kitty!!!

A feeding schedule is a great idea. try to feed at the same time each day, he'll learn quickly what the feeding times are and he will then remind you if you forget! It's hard to tell in the photo, but Sky doesn't look overweight.

As for sleeping with you, cats will choose to sleep with you or not. Mine usually does, but the other one sometimes does, and sometimes does not. I guess it depends on her mood!

Yes, I know that Sky is concealing his chub in that photo, but he is actually 14 lbs. He is quite the armful!

Yes, I have tried simply bringing him into my room, but he often scratches at the door to get out. But, thanks, I'm sure Sky appreciates the compliment!

Welcome to TCS Skyhawk. Think you will find that our cats make as many decisions for us as we make for them. My cat Xena and I do most of our together sleeping in the recliner when we are supposed to be awake.

Sky is very handsome! Good luck getting him to sleep with you! I have three and they all love to sleep with me but I usually end up kicking at least 2 out around 3am because they get a random burst of energy and start play fighting haha!

Welcome to you Hawk and Sky. Sky is a very handsome kitty. You will love TCS, there is fun and great info here.Kitties will sleep with you if they choose to. I have been lucky in that they sleep on or near my feet. I usually have the door to my room closed and they don't cry to get out. All cats have their own personality. Time will tell what Sky will choose to do. Just keep playing with him, and maybe he will want to sleep with you.

I'm a new and first time kitten owner, so I could be very wrong, but you mentioned you've tried keeping him in your room at night but he scratches to get out. I'm assuming you close the door, is there a litter box in your room? Maybe he scratches to get out because he needs to go relieve himself. Or something else he wants/needs that isn't in your room. Again, I'm super new so I'm probably wrong, but that's the first thing I thought of when I read it. Hope you can get him to wanna cuddle with you at night :) kitty cuddles are the best!

Hi there.

Love your cat. I have 16 and all of them sleep in one of the beds. 10 sleep with myself and my wife on the bed 5 with my daughter and 1 with my son. They did not all do it but gradually srated moving onto the beds looking for more love and attention and since then sleep with us.Give it time and do not try to force him. Play with him on the bed it helped with us as well.

I read somewhere that two people had luck using a towel to get the kitty up there. So put a towel where he sleeps now and then move it to the bed. Hope you have the same luck they had.

We will do anything for kitty love wont we haha!

I hope my new kitty starts to sleep with me soon too but she likes to sleep in a cat bed at night.
