Happy to hear about their poo! Really. Seriously. Maybe the chicken and rice diet contributes to the light colour. I'm curious about wether or not they received the product Revolution or is it Evolution(?) The awsome people at C.A.T.S here (committed alyence to strays) use it..gets rid of everything Including worms, ear mites and parasites. It's for kittens. Anyway..good job kittie steward you rock.

As far as I know, they havent been given this product. They were given a wormer (cant remember the name) which we had to break in half and give them half each. Both kittens will need worming again in a couple of weeks and hopefully they'll both be over the weight threshold for the regular wormer the vets use.

As for their poo... well they've been having the Royal Canin mixed in with their chicken and rice for 2 and a half days now and their poos have darkened to a more normal colour and while they did firm up more, it's gone a little soft. Kinda like Mr Whippy icecream. Is this cause for concern or just their systems getting used to the changes?

We havent done any changes since starting the Royal Canin on Tuesday afternoon, they're still getting the same amount of chicken and rice. Both are well in themselves, if anything, much more energetic than before (if that was even possible lol!) and completely bonkers. Both are peeing well and they have great appetites. I'm not worried about the kittens so much now, just that their poo has kinda softened. It's not diarrhea (not liquid at all) but the fact that I'm not seeing completely firm poos.

After I posted that they hadnt had a poo all day, they then proceeded to both have poos lol! And then again later in the evening, and again overnight. And again this morning. Both do seem to poo alot, but is this just the Royal Canin or the chicken and rice? Will it improve further once they're off the chicken and rice? We have more Royal Canin to pick up from the vet, so I might get my husband to talk poo with the vet and see what she says.

Another update, Misty is nice and firm now, yay!!

Mittens is still pooing like Mr Whippy icecream (minus the cornet obviously!) but at least it's not watery and nowhere near as frequent as it was before! It's still a normal colour too so that's a good thing! I guess it's just taking a little longer to straighten her belly out ... as said before, she's still fine in herself, we're not worried about her at all now but I think it's gonna take a little longer than a few days for her poos to completely firm up!

Wonderful news! I'm glad they're both feeling better. I laughed so hard at 'Mr Whippy' that I woke Arcturus up.

Lol!!!

Update :

Mittens' poo has gotten a little softer again this morning. She still seems well in herself, is eating and drinking fine, and omg so playful! We've decided to cut out their biscuits (the vet said it would probably be ok to have them back in their diet) for 24 hours to see if it's the biscuits causing the problem!

Misty's is still a little on the soft side but so much firmer now so now worries there.

Another update... sorry!!

The kittens have been on Royal Canin now for almost a week and after a good "firm" start, they both softened up again after a few days with both doing Mr Whippy style poops.... so we phased out the chicken over the course of a few days and now they're just on pure Royal Canin with a little baby rice mixed in as we're currently in the process of phasing that out as well - we didnt want to phase out too much, too soon if you know what I mean!

It's been about 18 hours since they had any chicken and their poos have firmed a little more, but still not quite as firm as I'd expect to see by now! Both are still fine in themselves (I forgot how energetic kittens are lol!)

and both have gained decent amounts of weight (we've been weighing them at home just to be sure!) so we're not worried about them at the moment. I've ordered some more Royal Canin and will keep them on that till they're poos firm up and then start slowly phasing in their kitten food. We have an appointment with the vets next week for their claws to be trimmed, worming and possibly vaccinations (depending on how they are of course!) The vet seemed happy enough to give us more of the Royal Canin and I've also ordered some online as it worked out cheaper!

Anyways, that's the update, here's a piccie of them hogging the sofa ;)

Thanks Stewball! We think so too, even when they're bouncing on our heads at 2am or chasing each other around the house at 4.30am!

Latest Update

Both kittens are doing great. The Mr Whippy poos have slowly turned more firm over the course of the last week. They're still on the Royal Canin, but the chicken and rice has completely stopped now :)

They've both been to get their 1st vaccinations, and were weighed and are both over 1kg now (at last!) so they can have the worming treatment that can be put on the back of their necks, so we'll be doing that later on. The vet seemed very pleased with them and their weight gain. We will continue with the Royal Canin over the next week as they seem to be sensitive souls and the worming treatment and jabs may upset their tummies for a few days, but after a week we'll be phasing in their kitten food .. very slowly, over the course of a couple of weeks, just to make sure it doesnt upset them too much!

Now that they're well, we're actually getting to see their personalities much more and omg are they naughty haha!

I'll get some new piccies taken later and upload them when my 6 year old is in bed!

They are beautiful and should be naughty at this age. Sweethearts.
Hehe thank you :) Although they're very naughty (pulling laundry off the clothes airers, running around like a herd of elephants etc etc etc), they're soo entertaining! They fight with each other alot too and Mittens (black and white one) is quite the bully with Misty! I think it's because she's a little bigger and heavier so is asserting herself better! They're very gentle with us when they play tho - they'll play with our hands and fingers and bite and hold them but never bite hard or actually scratch us! The only scratches we've had have been when trying to give them antibiotics/worming treatments/wiping their bums and usually because they're trying to get away. They've been taught well by their Mumma clearly!

Update :

Both have had their vaccinations and aside from being a little snottier than usual a few days after, have had no ill effects from the jabs. We used a worming/flea treatment (Endectrid Pippette) on their necks 5 days after their jabs so as not to upset them too much. Again no ill effects or diarrhea  and it's been 3 days so I've just started introducing some kitten food into their Royal Canin gastro food (1 third kitten food to 2 thirds gastro) and will continue like this for a few days. All being well with their poo, we'll add a little more kitten food in for a few more days. Fingers crossed, they'll be on pure kitten food in a couple of weeks!

Will get some updated piccies in a little while, they're currently running circuits around the house!

My two are older and heavier than yours of course and really do sound like elephants. Do they groom each other?

Sometimes, but then they'll start up playing again lol! They seem to find any excuse to play, and absolutely anything left out is a makeshift cat toy to them [emoji]128521[/emoji]

A Grooming session which quickly turned into biting and bunny kicking to each other's heads!! :lol3:

:D such a lovely picture! I love when cats snuggle and groom each other, so heart warming. Although my cats are like yours - their grooming session usually turns into a fight.

Glad they're still doing OK and no more runny bums. Hopefully they'll be fine on the normal food. Sounds like you're introducing it really slowly, which is the best way to do it.
