Pretty sure my cat ate string. Is there anything I should do?

The toy that was on a teaser was found in the living room no longer attached. The pole also no longer has string on it. I did not find the string anywhere but I suppose it is entirely possible that I had picked it up and threw it out long ago not realized they had torn up their teaser as it's one they don't like to play with much. If it did get ingested I do know which cat it would have been. (He wants to eat everything, darn you siamese cats :p) Anything I should be doing? Is it only an emergency if he starts to become ill from it not passing?

I definitely won't pull on any strings if I find any hanging out of him.

I would call the vet and ask for their advice. They may recommend giving him something to vomit so it doesn't get to his intestines.

Do you have an update on this? Definitely a vet trip if he seems at all unwell (maybe even a call to the vet to ask).

My cat ate a cotton wool ball (it was a nose off a teddy bear) at Easter this year. Then a whole bunch of cat grass because he felt unwell. It worked the same as a string. The bowel started to accordion upwards as it tried to move the grass "string" along the intestines and it wouldn't move. It can go from not so bad to fatal quite quickly so worth a check!

My boy started with vomiting and going off his food but I'm not sure those are always the initial signs.
