I am concerned about my five week old kitten. He developed what looked like an abcess or lesion under his front leg. The vet has prescribed antibiotic cream. He seems shaky and not growing as fast as his sister. He is so young and I am not sure what he has this abcess.Neither is the vet. Any ideas what it could be ?

Is he nursing from momma, or do you handraise it?  If handraise, what food does it gets?

Do you have possibility to get raw goats milk?

Hopefully he will improve under the vet's care. If the lesion does not improve, see the vet again.

No he wasn't the runt. He was the strongest but he developed this abcess type wound which was like a raised mound which had pus in. This is now clean and bring treated. It has left him weak. Still can't imagine what caused it and neither can the vet.

It sounds like he's getting better!

It really is hard to say what might have caused it. I can only think that maybe he got scratched on the leg accidentally, and some pee or poop got in the scratch and it got infected.

Just glad he's seen the vet. He should get stronger soon too. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Just to let you know that Rufus is a lot better and putting on weight. The wound responded well to antibiotics. Thanjs
