Yes, its possible.  Not really to have the power to feed the other kittens, but to hide the nest from predators.  Not to risk decaying corpse gives away the nest.

If she can carry the body away and hide away she tries to do so, otherwise,  she eats the dead body yes.

So, do seek again - if she hid the kitten, alive or dead, it may be in a difficult place you yourself would never think about.

Otherwise, the kitten died and she ate it up...  Possible even, if she was stressed and threatened by something into extremis, she could kill a kitten. Not common, but when the panic is wild enough, everything may happen.

Sorry about the missing kitten.

Where is your cat's nest? Is she indoor only now? Do you have other animals around that could be stressing her?

It sounds like mom ate it. What makes you think the kitten was sick?

Mom needs to be secluded from all of your other cats so she has time and space to relax. Are your other cats spayed and neutered?

If the missing kitten WAS severely sick, it explains it whole.  What was it sick in?  Were they perhaps premature?  If so, you must be observant on the kitten alive, you must perhaps step in and supplement feed it.  Weigh the kitten every day, so you see it gains. Perhaps even every 12 hours in the beginning, till you have a sure count and see she gains. Use an electronical scale measuring in grammes, or at least 1/10 of Oz.  That dont need to be costly, you can also prob borrow from a neigbour.

The males - if they are good friends with momma, there is practically no danger they will kill a kitten.  But if a non friendly tom kills a kitten, they just kill it, typically by shaking, they never eat them.

Yet, if they arent really best friends, momma may easily feel stressed by them.   So this is excellent reason for safe separation.

A friendly tom isnt no treat and may even help momma.  But there is a But,   cats arent protected by giving milk, unlike humans.  So having fertile toms nearby, she may get preg already a week after delivery.

So isolate them.

Also, if you arent a breeder, its best and wise to neuter the toms ASAP.  Observe, they will remain fertile at least a week after the neutering, possibly even several weeks.
