Hello, I have a 13 year old cat named Maxwell. Maxwell started to get cold like symptoms well over a month ago. We noticed his eyes were running, his nose, and he was sneezing a lot. He also stopped eating a lot. He barely ate any food. We brought him to tge ER vet because his vet was closed. They thought it might be an upper respiratory infection. They gave us medication, and that didn't work.. We finally got him into his vet and they did blood work, all came back fine. They said it's probably his teeth he has two bad teeth. We got him in for surgery and they pulled two teeth in the back. They also said he had tonsillitis. They sent us home with a bunch of medications. He ate like a champ when we got him home. But that started to decline again. His cold like symptoms were still present two weeks after surgery. We took him back to the vet and they checked his temp and it was fine, they ran a larger blood test to check for everything basically and nothing. They're basically stumped and thougt it might be because his guns were still inflamed so they sent us home with pain meds. Now it's a month after surgery and nothing has changed, still cold like symptoms, and not eating much. He purs a lot, and will eat crunchy treats but has a difficult time. We give him wet Pate food, and crunchy food two different dishes. He licks his wet food a couple times and that's it, he seems to have a problem even eating mushed up wet food he starts to almost gag on it. He won't touch is crunchy food unless it's Crunchy treats. He's lost a pound since surgery. Has anyone ever experienced this? I'm almost wondering if I should get a second opinion.

Absolutely get a second opinion from another vet. Try feeding him some boiled plain chicken or baby food (make sure it doesn't contain garlic or onion) to get him eating again. Or some stinky food. Cats won't eat much when they can't smell their food.
