Hi all, I was just wondering what advice you all may have about this situation.

My cat, Remi, was in heat a good 8 weeks ago and was extremely quick and sneaky to get out the back door. (I know we needed to have her spayed, but at the time other things were on the top of the list and it just didn't happen) And so eventually after letting our dogs in and out of the door she snuck out and I ran out behind her and searched for at least 2 hours. Now why I think she's pregnant is because there is a Tom cat who for some reason is good buddies with my other outdoor cat and I saw that tom cat run out from under my deck and so i ran over and sure enough there Remi was.  She would not come out for anything, and i gave up when she ran from under there and to the fences, by then it was probably 11 pm and couldn't stay out any longer. So long story short, the tom cat and my cat that was in heat no doubt got together. She came back the next night, thankfully.  I'm curious and concerned about Remi, she should be 8 weeks pregnant if my guess is right when she got out, however she hardly appears pregnant other then her nips which are very red and very obvious. I have cared for a pregnant cat before and by 8 weeks the other pregnant cat was obviously pregnant. So the only thing telling me she is pregnant is that her nips appear pink/red and the fur is gone around each one. Also i could have sworn i felt a kitten in her stomach but its very rarely i feel it. She's also been cleaning down there a lot more than usual, so I'm just very lost, could she only have 1 or 2? is it something i need to be worried about? Here is a picture of her from above, I will try to get a better one later on.  She's naturally a little more petite, so she is no kitten. She is around 2 years old.

TIA, Sorry for the long post!

Yes, she's pregnant and probably only having 1 or 2 kittens. She also likely has another week to 10 days to go.

Can you check to see if you have low-cost spay/neuter clinics in your area?

Thanks for the reply! And yes there is a place to get her spayed, I will be planning to have that done when she is ready.

Would love to see more photos! Mom should be spayed when the kittens are 8 weeks old. She can get pregnant again within a week of delivery, and without going into heat, so she must stay inside until then. You can even make the appointment now if they fill up quickly.

Now would be a good time to buy some kitten supplies. A small scale, a needleless syringe, and powdered kmr (PetAg is great; avoid Hartz), are all important to have on hand!

Thanks for the answer! I'll be planning on getting her spayed as soon as she can be spayed :)  I'll keep you all updated on how everything goes! Should deliver the end of the week or next!

Update: she has not gotten any bigger, her nips however are still very pink/reddish and from what I can feel, full of milk (?). She's very vocal, but that's nothing new really she has always been a talkative cat lol. Is there another explanation for her nips appearing this way? It's been way longer than 9 weeks since she got out so I'm quite puzzled..

If you are concerned, you may want to have an x-ray taken at the vet to see if she has a kitten or kittens inside and get to the bottom of the mystery. It is concerning if she's not gotten any bigger.

I'll call a vet today if I can, she seems she isn't pregnant and currently is acting like she's in heat :/ thank you all for the advice. She may not have gotten pregnant that night she got out, which would be hard to believe :O

Cats can give the appearance of being in heat at the end of pregnancy too. It really is just a good idea to get her checked and find out what's going on. Maybe a singleton? Looking forward to the update. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I'm going to try to get her to the vet, it's just not the best timing money wise. I want what's best for Remi so I'll try to work something out.

Another thing about her behavior, I haven't noticed any nesting but the last two nights she's been going under my bed, which she never has done before.
