My Mommy cat is only 8 months old and just gave birth. She was really small and only had 1 kitten.
I'm worried I haven't heard the little one cry yet. I have seen her feeding but she gave birth under my bed and it's hard to get to her. Any advice? Should I pick the little one up and move her in to a nesting box?
Please help..Worried

You should move the kitten and mama to a safe place.
You should also weigh the kitten and make sure it's alright weight wise, I'm sure all is fine. It's strange you haven't heard anything but kittens normally cry when cold or hungry. I would certainly check to be safe that all is well. Can you at least hear the baby suckling?

Don't worry! Touching the kitten is perfectly safe and won't cause her to reject the baby. As long as mama seems okay with it, I would move her as soon as possible, if not, wait for the baby to finish nursing, give them a little time to bond, and then proceed with moving it to a safer area. :)
You can see her moving right? You should be able to hear the suckling if milk it coming out, maybe not, but if your cat will let you try and check if she is producing milk yet. If she isn't you'll need to supplement the baby until she does.

Kittens arent crying the first they do, unlike human babies.  As now everything sounds OK, and you can plan on moving them.  Do it respectfully etc, so it shall go OK.  Momma wont reject the kitten just because you touch or handle it respectfully.

Congratulations on the little one. You should be able to show mom a nest option at this point. If she is comfortable with you, she also should not mind you handling the baby briefly. You can do so to move them, and weighing the baby daily is a great idea. It will alert you to any potential issues in time to help.

Are you able to keep mom inside and away from intact males until the baby is weaned? She can get pregnant again within a week of delivery.

Thank you. I'm gonna try to move them into the nesting box I have. She is a inside cat but the Daddy stands guard over them at all times. It's kind of endearing.

Is dad neutered now? If not, they really need to be separated. She can get pregnant again even now and without going into heat.

How did the move into the nest go?

Peanut Butter (Daddy) has an apt Friday. Jelly won't let him get near them and he just watches them. Haven't moved the little one Jelly hisses at us. I'm going to try again today.
Thank you for asking♡

It's great that you're taking dad this week. He will still be fertile for up to a month, so all interactions will need to be supervised for a while.

Mom should be spayed when the baby is 8 weeks old. You can go ahead and make the appointment now if your vet fills up quickly.

That baby is so stinkin cute! Maybe Nutella? Fluff? Another spread?
