I have a male cat 10 months old, neutered 40 days ago.He has big big appetite and always begging for food.Tried to follow vets instructions but I have a huge problem. My cat cries ,begs and search for food all the time..so I gave him a little bit extra( he is stil fit ,5kg or 11lb). Then he got diarrhea, so extra feeding stopped.Bought food " for beggers"" Royal canin but NOTHING changed. He is constantly asking and searching for food.Small portions of food during day didn't help. He stays indoor. Please give me ideas if you have. Thank you in advance!![emoji]128571[/emoji][emoji]128570[/emoji]

How much are you feeding him per day? How many cans of food/calories? How many meals? What food are you feeding? Kittens need a lot of food, so if he's begging that hard for food you're probably underfeeding him. I've never heard of diarrhea from over-eating. Did you feed him different food because that can cause diarrhea. Feeding low quality food can also be the issue too. Low quality kibbles often have more fillers and less protein so cats have to eat more to get full.

Thanks for replying... Before being neutered he was having 200-300 gr of canned food( purina mostly) and dry food 100-150gr (science plus or Hills)He was pooping 5 to 6 times per day.I couldn't do otherwise because he was able to eat more, still asking. After some incidents of light diarrhea(change of food and a little elimination) he had one severe incident of diarrhea. Then vet suggested 50-70 gr of dry food only (specific brands). I give 100 because he cries alot...

An 11 lb growing kitten needs roughly 275 calories daily, following the typical guidelines of 20 to 25 calories per pound of ideal body weight daily. I also think you are likely underfeeding your growing kitten. 100 grams (about 3 oz) of dry food is not a lot of food or calories for any cat. The vet's suggestion of 50 grams of dry food only daily is riduculous and puts your cat's health at risk, namely fatty liver disease. Sadly many vets do not know much about proper nutrition because it's not taught in vet school.

Can you list the specific brands / formuals of food you are currently feeding? The brands avaiable in Greece are likely very different from those in the US and other countries. Here's a dry food calorie chart that may have the brand you are feeding: http://www.petobesityprevention.org/wp-content/uploads/2010/05/Cat_Dry_Food.pdf The calorie amount is listed as per cup. 3 oz of food is a little less than 1/2 cup. For a brand that has, say, 325 calories per cup, 100 grams / 3 oz of food is roughly 80 calories. That is not enough calories to sustain a cat in a day. No wonder your cat is constantly hungry.

Please feed your cat more food regardless of what the vet says. The diarrhea is annoying but can be treated once your cat's tummy is fully satisfied and happy. Has the vet ruled out internal parasites that may be causing the diarrhea? Sometimes a sensitivty to a particular ingredient in cat food can trigger diarrhea.

I mean a US measuring cup. 1 US cup is the same as 237 milliliters (metric) or 8.3 UK cups or 1.3 teacups.

Hills Prescription I/D dry is 483 calories per US cup. 60 grams of that  is around 125 calories. I'm not sure which Royal Canin you are using (can't find a "beggar" one on the US site) but most canned foods are around 80 calories. You still need to feed your kitten more food to keep his tummy happy and help him finish growing.
