I'm so happy things are working out for you. So does this mean you get to keep your house? I'm a little ignorant when it comes to bankruptcy laws but I'm under the impression they have to let you keep your home?

I'm happy for you, also. It looks like there is light at the end of the tunnel for all of you.

Yes, I get to keep the house, provided I make the bankruptcy payments and my future mortgage payments on time without problems. This is not going to be easy; the bankruptcy trustee gets $550 a month and the mortgage co $950. That doens't leave a whole lot left once bills are paid and cats are fed. Fortunately, Tybalt's mom is an and is going to help out month to month. This is going to be over the next 5 years, unless I win the lottery or something before that time and can pay it off early
This also makes my past due bills for the winter's gas and electric go away. I don't feel bad that they are out the money, since they shut me off in error this past fall and didn't come out to turn the heat and lights back on for a week!!!

Wow the bankruptcy trustee gets that much?? Holy cow!! Well, at least you get to keep your home and won't have to worry about a place where you can keep your kitties.

Yup, and they are going to take it right out of my paycheck. I get paid every 2 weeks, so half of that will come out of each check.

BUT...at least we get to keep the house.

that is great news .. my lawyer tries to keep people out of chapter 13 because it leaves you with little money leftover.

I'm so glad everything got sorted out and you don't have to move
post #141 of 149
I know I haven't said anything much to do with this.

But that's fantastic news for you, Tybalt and kitties.
Just reading this now! I am sorry you are having such a difficult time! I am glad that you and the kitties don't have to distrupt your lives and move! I will be keeping you in my prayers.

I am happy that you get to keep the house!! Things will get better--slowly but surely! Good luck angel!

Just catching up on some threads, glad to hear you can keep your house. I hope your former lawyer gets what he deserves. Abusing people's trust is one of the worst things, and you trust someone you pay all that money to do right by you. I hope things keep looking up!
Sue, I am so glad things are looking up for you. You, of all people, deserve the best life has to offer and it's great to know you, Tybalt and the kitties have a safe place to be.
Sue, that's terrific news. I realize money is going to be really tight, but the main thing is that you can keep the house! So the future is a bit brighter.

Sue,

Will the bar association be investigating your past attorney?

I don't know. But the US Trustee's Office and the US Bankruptcy Court are :ahem: interested in him. It seems he has done this before, and my situation came along at the right time for them to press the investigation further.

well I hope that they don't let him get away with it anymore. Hard telling how many people he did this to that didnt fight back tooth and nail. I am glad that you are getting things going again and you get to keep your house and all your babies
