My terrible situation

My first reaction was that there was no way you could put 18 cats together with 8 resident cats, but on further thought, all of these cats are obviously experienced in coming to terms with other cats, so it might not be all too dramatic (I've seen this work in our local "cat home", where the kitties aren't caged).

I am so sorry that your attorney messed things up like they did. I know what you are going through with housing and money. Upon my divorce I was left with appx $50,000 in debts and even had several criminal charges brought against me for check deception and failure to appear for court hearings that I didnt even know about. Just when things started to look up, they would crash to rock bottom again. My advice to you is to try to find a pro bono attorney or try to go through legal aid if its available in your area. I know most foreclosures will not proceed if you have retained legal representation for the cause. I'm sure, like everyone else here, if I had $30K to send I certainly would. Other than that, stay strong and remember, if God brought you to it He will bring you through it. You and your family are in my prayers and I know things will work out one way or another.

Only about 3000 miles

We would have done it nonstop, trading off driving, and made it in less than 3 days. It would have been hard, but the less time the kitties are stressed the happier I am.

But it looks like the kitties aren't going anywhere!

Really glad that things are starting to move upawards for you all. Hang on in there, think positive (which is easier said than done) and remember everyone here is thinking of you and willing the best.

Hey Sue, I just caught this thread now, I haven't been on TCS for some time.... I haven't read the whole thread but I have some advice after reading the first page.

You know when people put ads in the paper advertising their place for rent? Some people do the opposite and advertise that they themselves need a place to rent for x amount of months and they are good people with so many kids and are quiet etc. etc. etc. You could put an ad in the paper saying how because of certain curves life has thrown you, you are losing your house which has been home to your husband and many cats. You are both hardworking and would be willing to sign leases on a yearly basis. You have vet references stating that your cats are well looked after etc, etc.

I don't know if someone has suggested this already but there's my 2 cents for ya. I really hope things work out for you, it seems bad things always happen to good people.

Sent off the checks to the (new) lawyer to start the ball rolling today. He has spoken with the mortgage co's lawyer, who is saying he is willing to ask the judge to allow me to file again. It is going to be hard...need to start taking inventory of things I can sell on eBay, and keep my fingers off the "place bid now" button while I'm there.

Should have a court date within a week to go before the judge to ask, beg, plead for another chance to file bankruptcy. I am willing to grovel it that's what it takes

Oh Sue - I'm in the Lounge for the first time in a while and I had no idea! You, your home and the kitties are in my prayers. I sure hope this goes through and that you get the time you need to both keep your home and get "back on your feet" financially, so to speak.
