On adopting a cat

Everyone here has gone through the loss of a precious feline friend.  As I read posts I relate with that person, we all share that pain, and I wonder why...

We do it because we want to love
We do it because we want to care
And they are counting on us to be there

The happy greetings are met with a smile
But sadly we know all the while
We will have to say goodbye
One day

And we know this going in to it
But we push such thoughts from our minds
We just want to give them a good life
And all they want from us is kindness
Which they return a million-fold

Sure as time flows that day does come
Sometimes impending, sometimes shocking
But it always arrives
And if truth be told it is two who die
Not one

Always in the back of your mind
And in the depths of your heart
There is an image of your friend
That makes you smile and frown
At the same time
And wish you could have just one more day
To love and hold so you can say

I miss you.

That is so beautiful! And so true! My tears are falling as I read this beautiful post, stroking the head of my frail elder and telling him, just one more day..........

That was a beautiful poem and so true. It's been four months that my two beautiful cats left me. I still cry everyday and miss them so much. One day when I'm ready I will get another 2 kittens.
