I bought a female cat a week or so ago. They assured me she was spayed. Well shes not. I walked in the kitchen and my tom cat was on her and it definitely happened. My question is will she be pregnant from this one mating or wpuld it need to happen again. I dont quite understand the induced ovulation thing in queens. Please no negative replies I do have knowledge and experience in heavily pregnant cats labour and kitten care. Just not in the mating aspect. Any factual help is grately appreciated. Thankyou x

Is she acting like she's in heat? Did you buy her privately? If so, ask for the name of the vet they used.

Some toms will try to mount a spayed female. How old is she? I take it your tom is not neutered?

If she's not spayed, you can book her in now and it will take care of things. She could get pregnant from one mating if she's not spayed.

Shes not spayed they confessed. Shes 100% in heat rolling round and crying for my male cat. Who has now lost all interested in her after that one mating. He spent they hole day laid with her I saw him on her once but could have been a couple of times in one day?.. would she need to be mated with again or could that one time have done it :/

You can get her spayed immediately and end the pregnancy, if there even is one. It wouldn't be a different procedure or anything this early.

Have you decided not to neuter your male?

If you want a kitten, there are dozens who are homeless at shelters right now because it's kitten season! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Additional questions are whether you can afford kittens and any urgent medical needs, and whether you know that this mom is healthy and old enough.

No, she will be about three weeks pregnant and not showing at that point. I would go ahead and make the appointment now to make sure you can get one.

You could even call and ask if they'll do a payment plan so you can pay some now and get it done earlier if the waiting bothers you.
