We're working on changing our cats over from Arm and Hammer clumping litter to Fresh Step crystals. We're doing the whole 1/3 2/3 thing to get them used to it. One of our cats keeps on trying to eat the crystals - I've had to pick her up many times and pull them out of her mouth. I look in the face and give her a firm NO, which always lets her know she's in trouble, but she's a brat and just keeps doing it.

I know it'll probably stop when they get used to the new litter, but I'm wondering if there are any health problems with her doing that. I'm guessing that litter can't be too bad if they accidentally ingest it - I'm sure my cats have ingested litter before when cleaning themselves.

Anyone have any experience or knowledge on this situation?

She is probably thinking it is a nice toy to play with. There are crystals that you can use that you yourself can actually eat!
I saw them demonstrated once- I just have to remember what name was on the product-
