Hi guys and gals

Our kitty Willow came down with diabetes, after a month long of hell and incompetent vets we were able to save her. Not all vets are incompetent, just most that deal with feline diabetes.

The problem is they do not have enough training or knowledge to even be given advice let alone charging people. I won't get into all the details in this post, let's just say I spend $10,400 in vet bills over a month and half, all four vets were advising to put our cat down. The more they treated her the worst she became. I had posted the story on this form and a member here told me to check out another form for advise regarding feline diabetes.
Here my morning post on there http://www.felinediabetes.com/FDMB/threads/5-4-willow-pmps-149bg.157295/#post-167089
The members on this form are battle tested with dealing with this disease. Some are currently dealing with it while others their kitties have passed on and they stay on the form helping others with sound advise. When I mean helping others here is what I'm talking about. One night willows blood sugar was dropping like a rock I posted a 911 for help and several members came to help me. Willow had dropped into really dangerous numbers and it looked like I would be staying up all night monitoring her. A few of the members said James we are here for you and won't leave the form until Willow is back in safe numbers, 1am,2am,3am,4am,5am these members were still there making sure she was safe and trying to keep me calm. The next morning other members were checking in to make sure Willow was safe. Since then these members have taken us under their wing of protection and check on us all the time. If it was not for them I have no ideal where I would be with Willow.

So if your dealing with feline diabetes I strongly suggest you check out http://www.felinediabetes.com these members have a wealth of knowledge when it comes to dealing with this disease. What works and what does not. How to track your kitties numbers and why to be tracking their numbers.

I truly hope this help others as it did me.

Have a great day

J

Thanks for sharing that excellent site with this group.  I am really glad you found the support you need in the feline diabetes group.  There is nothing more valuable than sharing the experience of others and getting support from others who have been there.  Diabetes is not one of my experiences, but I would certainly seek out advice both here and in that specialized group if I were to deal with it in the future.  I hope you visit here often and post whenever you see others asking for info on diabetes and its treatment.  You are gaining a lot of valuable knowledge in your journey with this cat, knowledge that you can use to help others in the future.  I'm so glad she is doing better.
