Hello!
So, I have only been a cat owner for about a year and a half now. I've always had dogs before now, but I met this little Kitty and fell in love with her, so she became my first feline companion. I'm learning as I go about this animal, but I've noticed something wrong with her and I did a bad thing: I researched it on the internet and now I'm panicking. I know the best thing I can do is take her to the vet, but I'd like to have an idea of what to expect before I take my darling in, just in case it's absolutely nothing and I waste money and time on said nothing.
I first noticed this problem in the thin hair area on her face, between her ears and her eyebrows. Kitty had about five or so small red dots, not bumps, just red dots on her skin. I have pictures below:
And this one:
In my internet research, the most likely candidate that popped up was ringworm, but my sister works at a Vet clinic and asked them, and she said it didn't seem likely. Now all but one of the red dots have faded, leaving one strong one in the center, just sitting there. My cat doesn't show any other symptoms, she doesn't scratch at the spot, it doesn't seem to hurt her if I touch it, but as her mama I'm worried.
More information you might find helpful in assisting me with the diagnosis is that she is an indoor cat, never goes outside, and is my only pet. I noticed these red dots when my parents went out of town and brought their elderly, 13 year old schnauzer to stay with us at my apartment for a couple days, but the schnauzer is in good health, except for age issues, and they have been around one another before. They only had contact while I was present and they didn't fight. There were a few hisses and swat threatenings, but she's been around more stressful situations before, with other cats, so I don't think it's stress or injury related.
I don't tend to agree with the ringworm idea because I can't find another cat online that has this specific red dot look. All the ringworm infestations look completely different. I've been trying to find out what the beginning stages of ringworm look like, but so far I haven't seen anything. Thanks for your time, I hope you can help us out!
