Hi everyone! I'm new here. I adopted our 1 year old Gracie last Friday, upon taking her I was aware she was pregnant but not aware it was happening so soon. Today Gracie began leaking a small amount of clear fluid from her vagina which she has been cleaning up. I left the house for a few hours and returned home to her leaking a red discharge, she is consistently licking herself. Ever since we have had her she has been a complete blessing. I want this transition from new home to having her first (and only) litter to be as comfortable as possible. With this being said, should I be prepared for her impending labor within the next 24 hours? I want to be with her.

She's been up and down, following me around a lot. I tried to put her in the bed we had made for her but she was not happy trying to be confined to one area... So I am letting her roam and hang. She's just chilling here, purring!

If she won't nest where you set up you can try moving it if it's possible. You can find a lot of info on this forum if you don't already have everything you need prepared.

I'd say it will be soon :) Good luck

Cats purr to comfort themselves when they're in pain. She certainly looks to be in stage one labor. Do you have a nest set up and kitten supplies purchased?

I have no supplies set up for the kittens at all! I my goodness. I feel like I'm giving birth all over again. What do we need????? I moved her birthing tent upstairs where she seems to be pacing back and fourth to. She's between wanting to follow me around and wanting to be alone.

Grab a few towels in case you have to help clean baby. Do you have a heating pad? Just stay calm. She won't be long now. Stay near, but let her do her thing. If she'll let you, rubbing her belly helps.

She is bleeding heavier. I just had to leave the house to pick my daughter up from daycare. Anxious leaving her.

Thanks guys! I was rubbing her belly and she was very content with me doing so.

Keep an eye on the bleeding. A little may be okay, but if it's heavy I'd stay near and be prepared to phone the vet. Hope all is well.

Pacing is normal. You should get a small scale to weigh the kittens, a needleless syringe, and powdered kmr in case you need to supplement. Those are essentials.

I would say a few teaspoons. Probably triple what you see in the picture. It was smeared all over her, that could've given the illusion of more. I am almost back home.

That seems like a lot of bright red blood to me. Have you called the vet?

Yes I did call the vet today. We've talked three times already. They said if the blood was dark red or very heavy to bring her in. But they assumed she was ready to give birth. It's hard for them to say so much over the phone.

Her belly feels tighter than usual. Not feeling any kittens moving right now. I did feel them this morning. There is definitely two for sure. Haha. Right now she is relaxing in my arms. Very calm. I'm surprised she's so calm?

I've noticed her jumping in and out of her litter box. I think she's confusing this with a bowel movement. I'm not sure.
