Today was Max's yearly vet visit that I had down as 10 AM, but the vet had down as 9:10 AM - but they told us we could wait a bit and the vet could see us, so we waited about 30 minutes. All went well except for the short ride home. Evidently the poor thing had to go to the bathroom and he couldn't wait to get out of the pet carrier. He pee'd and than poo'd. Not only did the car stink, he got pee all over me and he was soaked.
His long fur just soaked it up (not to mention my coat).

Hubby was driving and got upset because Max, being the proper cat, was trying to burry his mess - flung urine over me, my husband and the car. When we got home I took Max in immediately to the laundry room sink and he got his very first bath. Needless to say he was NOT the happiest camper. Just got from the vet being poked and prodded, given his shots and now a bath.

My clothes and coat are now in the washer, Max is doing his best to look dignified while being soaking wet and washing himself. Hubby, is just ... well, irritated. Only a few little specks got in his car, and we've cleaned it out with disinfectant.

Poor Max, he has had one rough day.

Poor baby! They really do get upset when they can't get to the litter box. Being scared I'm sure didn't help his bladder control either.

I have to say, the thought of the cat trying to "bury" his mess and flinging pee all over is pretty funny, though. (Only because it didn't happen to me.)

I took my Simon to the vet this morning too. They are always so pitiful. I hate going, but at least it's only once a year for shots. (Hopefully!)

I have to admit, while my husband was fuming, I was trying my best not to break out into uncontrollable laughter.
Even if I was covered in pee.

Poor baby. That happened to Peaches on her first visit. She was contained in a carrier though so I didn't get any on me.

Really, Max should probably be contained in a cat carrier or at least a box with holes cut in it. It's much safer and most vets require cats come in a carrier.

Hope poor Max gets over his humillity quickly! Give him scritches for me!

He was in a cat carrier, I was just holding the carrier on my lap.

Well here's something that may bring some comfort to you.

It's better that they do their business, especially with peein rather than they hold it in. If they hold the pee for an extended period of time, they run the risk of Urinary Tract Infection, (UTI).

When I flew Russell up on a plane, what was a two hour journey turned into a marathon 12 hour journey. He didn't pee or poo. That led to a trip to the vet, medication to ward off the start of UTI, tests, a special diet and more tests.

Extreme situation but I would rather get soaked in cat pee rather than have UTI to deal with.

Aawww, well at least he's all clean. Poor thing must've been really stressed out. Hopefully next time he'll deal with the ride a little better.

When Kolohe gets really nervous she'll pee on the travel blanky, which of course she's in the carrier. I'm glad she doesn't do it all the time when we go for rides to the Vet. But everytime she does, Bryan (hubby) always says.... "Oh what is that smell? Did someone pee?". Hahaha! At least he doesn't get that upset.

LOL, yep he is all nice sweet smelling, sqeaky clean today. And completely back to normal.

The last time we had him in the car was last year right after we adopted him and he had a bladder infection. He was digging at the doors at the vets office, but he does that normally to a closed bathroom door.
Maybe this time he was looking for a litter box?

He did keep sitting on me when he was wet yesterday. I know he was just taking comfort (and warmth) from my precense.... but I can't help but thinking, in a corner of his mind "What comes around goes around" and he throughly enjoyed getting me soaked.
