Sprayed, haven't seen another flea!

On a related note, I'm going to start stocking up on wet food for the kittens when it comes time to wean them. I think I saw somewhere to try using rice and turkey baby food to start out, then upgrade to actual kitten wet food? Is there something in particular I should look for, like chunky vs gravies, etc?

Fancy Feast makes a turkey kitten wet food and a tuna kitten wet food. Any of the adult Fancy Feast Classic flavors are good also, for mom and kittens.

If you want to wean using baby food, Gerber turkey or chicken works. You'll want a can of powdered KMR on hand as well. Mom can drink a dish a day for the calcium, and kittens will drink it when weaning. It can also be used to mix into the wet food to thin it into mush for early weaning.

And of course, you'll need kitten chow. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Fancy feast and chow aqcuired.

Update; within the last five minutes Bliss has been scratching at the corners of carpet and really being vocal about me going in the closet and sitting with her. There's discharge, but I don't think it's the right color.

It started out a pinkish, watery color, now it's brownish green.

Her regular vet is closed on Sundays, we ended up calling around to vets until someone picked up and they told us it's nothing to worry about just prelabor fluids, so long as it changes to a greenish brown color and doesn't stay pink or get redder.

*edit: I think I just panicked because I remember reading articles saying discharge is bad, especially red or green, but it never clicked in my mind that it was just her water breaking.

Actually, pinkish is fine. You do not want to see bright red blood in any quantity. She may be starting to lose her mucus plug. She's in pre-labor. Stage one labor could start anytime. Are you still moving this week? The timing is unfortunate.

If she has them within the next few days, no. We have about a week to play with, unless our landlord gets pissy. The guy had someone already ready to rent the place we're in before we even gave him a moving date, so there's no telling what will happen. If it comes down to it, we'll be forced to move in four days. I have a plan to set up a large dog crate with an electric blanket for both mama and kittens. I can plug the blanket in to the car with a fancy little plug in outlet, plus there's places to stop along the way where I can feed them if mom gets stressed. It's about a 45 minute drive.

How soon COULD you move, and give her a familiar place, such as your bedroom, to settle into?

Wednesday, so, two days from now?

My husband works the afternoon to morning shift in an ER, and he needs to drive the truck. So it'd be his days off, Wed/Thurs.

It's going to be a wait and see situation I suppose, since she's showing signs of going into labor any time now. Just do not move her when she is in active labor. It needs to be before contractions start, or after kittens are born. Oh, boy ...

It really is. I wouldn't dream of moving her while she's in labor, so if it comes down to it I'll stay here with her and a sleeping bag Wednesday night. Hopefully she works with me and has them tonight or tomorrow, or after we have her moved Wednesday.

Yes! I've got my fingers crossed that one or the other happens. Keep me posted!

Still no changes, besides her sudden cuddly attitude! She was all over our faces last night, even under blankets which she never has done. Still eating, drinking, and using the litterbox.

Very vocal today, sat across the room and meowed at my husband the entire time I was putting the dog outside. She's changed nests a few times last night, at the moment it;s wherever I am, which is the bed.

She's also going mad for belly rubs.

She's doing all the things that near-labor cats do!

I'm hoping you can get her moved tomorrow before she has the kittens! [emoji]128077[/emoji]

Fingers are very much crossed.

I've talked with a few different vets to get opinions on moving her and possible kittens, most say to keep the car warm and play soft music, and look into getting mama a calming collar.  Other than that, a move will stress her out either way so it's best just to do it as long as she isn't in labor.

I would not put any kind of collar on her.

If you can move her directly into an already set up bedroom that has familiar smells, bedding, and furniture, and close her in there until you can spend time with her, it would be best.

Otherwise, put her in a bathroom for safety and comfort while you finish moving.

A Feliway diffuser in the room where she will spend most of her time may help.

Noted. I'd planned on putting her in the bathroom, there's blankets and a bed she's used already in there that has her scent all over it, and once we get our bedroom done I was going to rub that down and plop her in there. For sure looking into getting a plug in. I'll even grab the travel spray they have and spray the carrier down.

Sounds good! Let us know how it goes tomorrow. Are you loading the truck early? Is it just one load?

We upped the pick up time for the truck to be ready for us to get at 8 am. It's all just one load, and our neighbors are helping my husband out. If Bliss hasn't had the kittens yet, I may drop my husband off to get the truck and then head directly to the house, so I'd be there by around 9 am. It's all one load, and I won't have anything packed in the car.

If she's already had the kittens, I'll stick her in the bathroom while we're moving things to keep her travel time down as much as possible.
