Hi!

My Persian Cat is well, you know... pregnant.

My dad gave my female cat to his friend, who owns a male( obviously ) persian cat, to mate around the end of February and she stayed there for 3 weeks or so. She started to nest a little a couple of weeks after she came home, her nipples are pink and bigger, she has been more affectionate, she has thin hair around her belly, and her belly is swollen. This will be the 3rd time she has given birth and she is almost 4 years ( Is That Too Old? ), I have 2 other cats ( Her Daughters ) and my dad says that one of them has worms ( We don't know who but if it's the pregnant one, will it affect the babies or when she will give birth? ). Also, She is very dirty around the tail and bum and we really need to clean her but the doctor said we will harm the babies so i can't see if there's  discharge or blood ( Will She have blood considering its her 3rd time? ). Her tits aren't giving out any milk as far as i can see and we haven't taken to a doctor because my parents are too busy and don't think it's necessary, considering she's given birth 2 times already without us needing to take her to the doctor. So when will she give birth?

First, three weeks is far too long for a cat to be left to mate. She is likely to get pregnant on different days, which can lead to premature kittens.

All of the cats should be dewormed. Ask your vet for what is safe for a pregnant cat. All of the cats will need to be treated 2-3 times a few weeks apart to get them all.

This should be her last litter. She is getting older, and multiple pregnancies and heat cycles are not healthy. It's hard on her body, and can lead to cancer. Are you selling the kittens? Do you make sure that the new owners fix them and vaccinate them? Mom should be spayed when the kittens are 8 weeks old.

You will not hurt the kittens if you help mom to clean herself gently with a warm, damp cloth. And you certainly need to know if she's bleeding.

She is not in any less need for medical attention because she has had past litters. She needs to be cared for.

I have to agree with everything talkingpeanut talkingpeanut has told you.

Cats only need to spend 2-3 days mating. Those 3 weeks must have been really hard for your cat.

Pedigreed cats are not bred until they are 18 months old. Then, they are only bred once a year. They never have more than 3 litters, and are retired at 4 years of age to be spayed, and live comfortably as a pet thereafter.

Do you have papers on your cat? If so, there are usually breeding restrictions on her offspring.

Regardless, your cat is pregnant, and this needs to be her last litter. She will need to be spayed when these babies wean at 8 weeks.

She sounds like she could be within a couple of weeks of giving birth, if not sooner. If she's dirty, use a damp, warm cloth to clean her. We can't know when she'll have her babies, but if she mated at the end of February, she's due almost any day now. What do you do with her babies? Sell them? Hopefully, not before at least 8 weeks old, and preferably, 12-16 weeks for pedigreed cats.

Good luck, and keep us posted. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Well, My dad was travelling and his friend's house is very far away so we could not get her. Plus. M cat is very protective over herself, she would certainly need more than 3 days to mate. I'll be sure to use the damp cloth idea ( Thanks For The Idea By The Way ), buts she has white fur so I do not know if the damp cloth will work very well. As for the worms, the doctor said anything can harm the kittens so as soon as she gives birth we will  take all 3 of them to the vet.

They can all have worm medicine now. Meds for tapeworms are very mild and can be given to pregnant cats. It's pyrantel pamoate. Tapeworms come from ingesting fleas, so they all need de-fleaing now too. Fleas can harm newborns. No need to wait!

Cats mate based on heat cycles and instinct. If she was in heat she mated right away. If not, there's no way other than an x-ray to know how far along she is. A damp cloth should clean her.

Is your cat pedigreed? Are you a breeder?

There are a lot of things here that sound very stressful and uncomfortable for your cat, and I hope you can reconsider. She is protective of herself, and you are leaving her with a strange male for three weeks at a time? That's a lot of travel, being away from home, and forced mating.

She is also, no doubt, very uncomfortable from the worms. She needs treatment.

She is also dirty in an area she can't reach, which cats hate.

You can address all of these things. Can you also spay her after this litter?
