My cat is on day 62 since the start of her heat cycle. I've been checking her temp to get an idea of when labor might start and for the last sever days it's been in the 99* range and for the most part she would lay still while I took her temp. This morning it's gone up into the 100* range and she is very irritable when I try and check her temp. Could this be the beginning signs of an infection or just that her birthing time is coming? I've seen her drink this morning but not eat yet, there is normal poop in the litter box and no vomiting.

Temperature isn't a reliable indicator. Many cats find it stressful, for good reason, and I would advise that you stop. It doesn't sound like she's ill, but labor may be coming.

Are you a breeder?

I am not a breeder. Just a concerned loving cat mama who has done a lot of reading on the impending signs of labor. Everything I've read said her temp is suppose to drop so this morning when it had gone back up had me worried about a possible infection.

I would wait for other signs of illness. Sounds like she is uncomfortable and very pregnant.

Are you able to keep mom 100% inside and away from intact males until she can be spayed when the kittens are 8 weeks old? She can get pregnant again within a week of delivery, and without going into heat.
