My kitty is currently on prednisone for a pretty severe allergic reaction.  He's been on it for about a week and needs to be on it for at least a few more days (he has a rodent ulcer that hasn't cleared up yet). He's on a pretty high dosage right now (one tablet a day) but it will be decreased once the ulcer starts to clear up.

The issue is today he somehow managed to injure his claw.  I'm not entirely sure what happened, but he was running around the house and when I looked at his paw it was bleeding.  It seems as though he must have caught his claw on something and ripped it out.  He's not limping at all and the bleeding is controlled.  My question is whether it's safe to continue him on the Pred while he's recovering from the injury.  I know it suppresses the immune system, but is it strong enough to stop healing minor injuries?  I'll call the vet on Monday morning, but it's closed tomorrow.

If anyone has had a similar experience or any advice, I'd really appreciate it!

Stick to regular scheduled meds type in claw injury in search bar above for other links same issue. Keeping wound clean sterilized is most important. Takes a month or more for nail to return. Discuss with Vet.
