Is my kitten overweight?

Daisy May is about 8 months old right now.  I have two 2-year old boys as well.  I know kittens tend to eat more food, and she runs around a lot and expends a lot of energy, but she is looking a bit overweight to my husband and I.  She eats about the same amount as the other two, we feed them 1/4 cup each of dry food (Purina One Smartblend) in the morning, and a 3oz can of Fancy Feast at night (she gets the kitten version of both since she's still under a year).  But the two boys are pretty slim and are normal, healthy weights.  When Ludo was a kitten he did have a little bit of a belly, but it was all underneath him--like a little kitten pooch, when you looked at him from above he looked normal.  But Daisy looks obese when you look at her from above.  I'm wondering if we should be feeding her less? It seemed like Ludo ate a lot more when he was a kitten, but never looked like Daisy.  She does eat very quickly, she is usually finished with her food when the boys have barely made a dent in theirs, and she used to try to eat their food too, but we discouraged her from doing so and now feed the boys up on the kitchen island so they can eat their food (she still tries to jump up, but we monitor her and make sure she doesn't jump up and eat their food).  Curious as to what others thought of the amount of food we feed her and if it's just kitten weight and she'll grow into it, or if we should be feeding her less, or if there could be something else going on.
Would love to hear your thoughts!

she runs around a lot so it's hard to snap a good photo of her but you can see how much her belly protrudes in this photo

she's beautiful but a little chubby

hi and welcome to TCS!

your Daisy May is a very pretty little girl!

i have two 8 1/2 months old kittens.  my girls are in the process of transitioning to a raw diet, so the diet is very different from your Daisy May's diet.

may i ask -- your girl is long-haired. have you felt along her sides, to see how much of the 'obese' look could be fluffiness? if i'm not mistaken, you should be able to feel 'definition' along/of her ribs and spine (back) and hips but not for Daisy May to feel bony. has your girl been to the vet's? been dewormed as a kitten? and, the photo of your girl from above, was that by any chance taken shortly after she had eaten? because my girls always have a 'full' look to their bellies (and that includes looking wider from above) after they've eaten, then after an hour or two they're looking more 'normal' -- their bodies have had the time to work on digesting their meal by then.

as you mentioned, kittens do eat as much as or more than adult cats -- they've got a lot of growing to do in a relatively short period of time. it sounds like your girl is quite active too, like healthy kittens are supposed to be.

i would suggest discussing your Daisy May's weight with your vet; i certainly would not suggest limiting a kitten's food unless your vet recommends it. your girl's weight range would also be based on her frame/bone structure -- and as with humans, frames/bone structure can vary. with my two girls (both 8 1/2 months old), DeeDee is long and slender while Punkin is more 'average' or standard framed. my two girls are only 6 ounces apart in their weights. while you're there with your vet, you could also ask if there could be 'something else going on' with your Daisy May.
