I've looked everywhere online for an answer and here and I'm not getting able to find an answer. I just would like to know...if a cat has a food allergy to say chicken and you remove chicken from their diet...approximately how long can it take for that specific allergen to leave the cat's body if this is something they are use to eating for about 4 years. Anyone that might know? Appreciate the help!

It varies depending on your cat's weight and metabolism, but it takes about 6 weeks to fully be out of the body.

My cat seems allergic to fish. I'm noticing positive changes 2 weeks out but it takes longer for full results.

I omitted fish and chicken from her diet as I'm not quite sure which one it is, or if it was even indeed either of those but she's only a week in on the new food (venison, duck and peas) and already her coat has way less dander and she had a bald spot on her belly that is starting to grow hair back. She's still sneezy and stuffed up a bit even on claritin so I just worried that maybe it was something else other than the fish and chicken but if she's already showing signs of improvement I would think that it must be one or the other, or even maybe both. Now that I know it takes about 6 weeks to get rid of the allergen from the body, I will try not to worry as much and just keep hoping for more improvements in time. :)
