Cade is such a sweetie. Here he is rubbing up against Nutmeg, even though he is shy and prefers to hide a lot of the time. He loves cuddles.

Cade again

Steve is in foster right now since he continued to have issues with diarrhea. Hopefully that will help.

Licorice the sweet cinnamon colored longhair kitten

Some new kittens up for adoption

Tootles, a kitten that someone brought in when their dog attacked it. He seems to be doing well though.

Leon, Beatrix, Agatha, and Abbott have all been adopted. Mr. Peabody is finally over his sickness and is back up for adoption (yay!). Lyla is also up for adoption, as well as Prissie.

Thanks for the update.

Little Tootles! He has such a sweet face. Licorice looks a bit like my Carpet. Does she have a black face and legs and brownish body? I'd love to see some more pictures of her. I'm never quite sure how to describe Carpet.

Just thought I would give an update on how things are going at the shelter. We've had some nice cat adoptions, including Twila and Titan and Prissie. However, Shrimpy was returned as she wasn't getting along well with the cats there. She seems okay about it (some cats are stressed) but I hope she can find a home again soon.

Rupert has the Conference room and gets to share it with Mr. Peabody. He wasn't too sure about sharing, but hopefully will settle down.

Zsa Zsa, a gorgeous patched tabby female kitten, is at Petsmart currently. I'm guessing she'll be adopted quickly

Dee Dee was getting stressed in the cat room, so she gets her own crate in the lobby to show off her gorgeous self to people as they come in. Hopefully it will help her find a home. She is an older girl, around 10, but she's got a lot of life left in her.

Mochie is on medical hold for the sniffles.

Dixie had to go into medical hold for the sniffles as well, poor girl.

Cade has some sniffles too.

Boo came in I think as an owner surrender, but I'm not sure. She is a little nervous but settling in. Hopefully she can go up for adoption soon.

Either Pumba or Timon (both sisters and both girl). They are at Petsmart.

Pumba I believe. She is so cute!

Shayna, I think she might be Pumba and Timon's short-haired sister.

Mr. Peabody is healthy enough to be up for adoption! Yay!

This poor little thing has an upper respirator infection. His name is Izod.

Abram chilling in the cat room.

Cougar.

Nutmeg under the TV.

Shrimpy settling in.

Ardy in one of the new cat towers.

Ebony.

Alirose trying to fit her large self into one of the cat dens.

Boston stretching in the cat room.

Pearl saying hello.

Delphine came back from Petsmart and is in the lobby, hoping to be adopted.

Poor Twoface is a shy boy and wasn't adopted. He came back from Petsmart and needs some socialization to help him calm down and find a forever home.

Not pictured are Licorice, Steve (in foster), Queenie and her sister (in foster), Peggy and Minion and Paws and Rags (in foster), Lyla, Spoons and Banjo (in foster), and Mr. Cool  in foster)

Prissie looks a bit like the mama kitty I TSR'd last month. She is the mother of the two kittens, and our Little Figgy.

Adorable little guys!!! I know, it can be so much work! They are so lucky to have you.   : )

I love tortie cats. Prissie was finally adopted and we've got another in foster. They have such attitude but are so much fun. One of our pet cats, Genny, is a tortie and she is so picky about when she wants you to pay attention to her and when she wants to be left alone.

Thanks for the update. What happened to little Tootsie? Did he recover from the dog attack? I hope he's in a nice new home by now.

Tootles is doing well, I just didn't have any updated photos of him. He is still on medical hold, I think to make sure he didn't have any internal damage from being caught by a dog. Once he weighs enough to be neutered he'll be up for adoption! He's so cute, I'm sure he'll go quickly.   : )

Ebony was adopted! Finally! He came in still nursing from his mother but because of the sniffles, diarrhea and his black coloration, it took him until he was 9 months to finally find his home.

Ardy is a cuddle-bug, he just loves being around people.

Pearl caught in the act of grooming herself.

Good question.

Different staff members, volunteers or even the citizens that bring them in will name them. We try not to use the same name more than once every year or two, so that we can tell them apart and know who we are talking about. If an owner surrenders a pet we try to keep their name, but sometimes if the name has already been used or will turn people away from adopting them (Sticky Thing for a silly example) then we may change it.

Delphine was so aggressive when she came in we named her after an infamous serial killer. She is a sweetie now though.  : )

Ardy and Abram are siblings, so they got names that sounded similar, as many sibling animals do at shelters (get a theme, like Timon and Pumbaa). Nutmeg, Nash, Naomi, and Newton were all siblings, for another example.

Dixie and DeeDee I'm pretty sure both came in with their names.

Alirose was named that because the person who brought her in was named Rose and she was found near dumpsters (hints Alley). So we combined the names.

It's a lot of fun to name them. I even got to name Lyla (rename, her real name was Lazy Bones), Nocturne, Twilight and Oziana (originally Ozzie, she was too young to tell if she was a boy or a girl).

The same is true for the rabbits, dogs, and other animals we take in.
