When I started looking up different things about people with cat allergies,  I ran into nutrition information.

I've been reading on different cat foods trying to figure out the best thing for my cats.

Some places suggest rotating what you are feeding so they get a better complete nutrition, and to not feed the same food all the time.

Some places say to mix a raw food diet with any kibble or canned food  is bad.  Others say this is not true.   I can't find any actual evidence that says which is true.

I am trying to keep some high quality grain free kibble in their diets but make it mostly healthy canned and/or raw.

Does anyone know - Can you mix raw food with other food?

(kibble - we are currently on weight management blue wilderness.  They have done good on this.  After researching pet food,  I fell scammed, because I was under the impression that Iams was good for them,  and I don't think it was so good now.  They ate Iams before blue wilderness )

Kibble possibilities = orijin, wellness core, nature's instinct, undecided on the young again cat food

Canned food we are considering - Tiki, wellness, merrick, Nature's instinct,

Raw/dehydrated  food  -  trying The Honest Kitchen, Primal, Rad cat

Not brave enough to try making their food for them yet

My vet would try to sell me Science diet, so I can't ask him.

I feed my two kitties dry, canned, and raw.  I never mix them into a single serving/meal, however.  I don't think there is an issue with feeding different types of foods... most of us do!  There is some controversy over feeding raw and dry mixed together, or too close together.  I think I read somewhere that this shouldn't be a concern, however.

I do like to feed a variety of foods, flavors, and protein types to keep my kitties from getting too used to eating a particular food, however.  And variety is the spice of life!  I don't want to deprive them of that :p

I think you have listed some great foods... but I'm not a huge fan of The Honest Kitchen.  Its' carbohydrate content is quite high.

Here's the general rule. It's okay to mix wet foods and raw foods together while transitioning. It's also okay to feed wet food, freeze dried, or raw food at the same, or around the same time. If you feed kibble, you should not mix it with raw, and you should not feed it at the same time as raw. The theory is that kibble, because its highly processed, moreso than wet food,  contains more bacteria and more fillers and could irritate tummies more if you mix it with raw, which is unprocessed and doesn't contain fillers. They essentially digest at totally different rates. My personal theory is that if you feed raw and kibble you should feed high quality kibble

I feed like this

Raw in the AM

High quality kibble/wet food/freeze dried as a noon snack

Raw in the PM

kibble/wet food/freeze dried overnight as a snack

I have several kittens, so that's why I feed so many meals, but my older cats eat 4 times a day as well, just smaller meals.

In terms of kibble, I like Orijen the best, and that's what I use mixed with Ziwipeak air dried.
