I have a female kitty that is 7 months. in the last few weeks she keeps throwing up, she keeps refusing to eat cat foods, all she eats is cooked meal, i tried to make her hungry then maybe she would eat the cat food but she still refused to eat and also i tried other cat foods dry and wet, anyway today i found the meats on the ground first i thought someone just left it there but then i realized that my cat throw up but it looked just like how it is before she eats, i think she throw up right after she ate, and whenever she throw up she keeps runing around the house and jumping and she gets so tired but i cant stop her, So, I guess my question is those of you that have had a kitties that throw up what have you found that helped.

Hi
I looked over a few of your other threads and, first of all, wanted to thank you for rescuing this cat. I am learning a lot about how different pet care can be around the world and it's very interesting. Here in America many people are moving away from canned  and packaged pet food and in your part of the world it seems that's what people are moving towards. It's because many years ago there was a huge crisis with many different manufacturers of pet food causing pets to get sick because of poisonous pet food.

Anyway, I guess it depends on what you are able to do. I saw your other thread about getting her to eat store bought cat food. Have you decided to keep trying or to just make her food yourself? I tried to look up the ingredients list on Goody cat food, but it wasn't detailed enough. Cats should have grain/corn free food with mostly meat, they really don't need any grains or vegetables. Also, canned food is so much better than dry if you want to buy her food, I used to feed my cats dry food, but then I found research about the many diseases that can be prevented by not feeding dry and now only feed canned food.

My first thought was that she my have worms? Have you noticed anything strange around her bottom, maybe like little pieces of rice? Or, if the pet food you bought had grains/corns, that could cause upset to her since cats are carnivores and their systems sometimes really can't handle it.

Also, has she been spayed? Do you trust your vet to safely spay her? Does she stay inside? I hope so, because there are lots diseases and danger for her out there. Thanks again for giving her a home

If what sh throws up looks just like the food you fed her, then chances are she is actually regurgitating her food, not actually vomiting, since it hasn't had time to go thru her digestive tract yet.  Regurgitation (which appears like they are vomiting if you see them do it) is often caused from them eating too much at one time, or eating too fast.

If it's not actually the food that is causing it, try feeding her in smaller portions more often so she doesn't gorge herself.  Also, try raising her dish, and you can even put something like a clean golf ball in her dish so she has to eat around it to slow her down if she eat really fast.

If it IS her food, then try a better quality food.  As FairyCatMom suggested, one without corn or wheat, or even soy.  And if that doesn't work, then you may need to think about making her food from scratch.  You can visit our Homecooked Resources thread for help here:  http://www.thecatsite.com/t/264153/home-cooked-cat-food-resources  Be sure to make her food completely balanced though.  If not, you can cause health issues.  Cats cannot live on muscle meat alone.

Good idea on putting an obstacle in her way.
Also, if it's canned or real meat, if it's fresh & really soft (new can or just very juicy) some cats eat it way too fast & throw up.
I have one like that.

I put her food in the fridge to make it more stiff. She doesn't mind.
But if it's warm & wet, when I 1st put it down she eats so fast, she throws up ~ 30 - 50% of time.

If it's cold, or just dryer and if I pack it down, she doesn't eat as fast. Once it's sat out for a while, when she comes back, she doesn't seem to eat as fast.

Well i cant make food for her myself cause i might not get all the ingredients, and about the cat food she refused to eat it so i just gave it to the other cats on the street,

well if her food gets cold she doesn't eat at all, i tried puting other foods in her plate but she refuse to eat them and she goes infront of the fridge and she keeps meowing until i get the meat she likes and then she follows me till i give her the meat

hi sorry for the other reply i didnt get to give the full answers, well she has no problem she is healthy and i didnt notice anything  strange around her bottom, well about my vet i cant tell that i trust him or not i cant get a better vet here cause like i said i live in a country that doesnt have pet maybe just %10 of the people does, there are cats and dogs in the streets everywhere and they are so cute but people refuse to look after them but i really love them and whenever my cat doesnt eat her food i dont throw them away i go outside and give it to other cats even tho they are scared of humans but i try to be friendly with them. and my cat only goes out after midnight maybe just for 1 or 2 hours then ill take her back home.

Hi, I did a little searching and found the Kurdistan Organization for Animal Rights Protection https://www.facebook.com/KOARP they may be able to help or guide you if you weren't already aware of them. Is she roaming around where other cats can get to her? If yes, she will probably get pregnant if she's not spayed. Maybe this organization can help you with safe veterinary practices. I also found this on their website http://koarp.org

on 23 February 2016 KOARP and University of Duhok/Veterinary Medicine Faculty celebrate World Spay Day as a first time during Iraq and Kurdistan R. history .

The celebration includes this activities below:

1-Presentation about situation of Stray animals in Iraq by Dr.Sulaiman T. a founder of KOARP.

2- condemnation the Iraqi law number 48 published in 1986 called stray dog kill control law bu both side.

3- spay and neuter some dogs and cats daily in this week

4- interview with media to education and awareness people to spay owner animals and government to tack care stray animals.

If she isn't spayed, maybe she could be during this time next year? I hope she is feeling better and keep us updated.
Thanks for taking care of her and other cats when so many don't have homes.

I hope she did not get hurt too bad. It is best if she does not go out, that way she has less risk of being exposed to disease, getting injured, or being abused by someone. Great to hear that she is spayed. Hope she is feeling better.

FYI, I've used the golf ball in the bowl trick (or something heavy) to slow down our cat's eating / regurgitating & it's worked well.
She hadn't thrown up in weeks. Last night, I fed a little late & forgot the ball. She was hungry - chowed down & regurgitated in ~ 2 min.

In order to work, I think the bowl can't be too wide in diameter, or they'll easily eat beside the ball - still too fast.
If bowl is too small a diameter, they won't be able to get at the food.

Bowls that work well for this cat are about 3.5 inches in diameter & about 1.5 inches deep; fairly straight sides.

You could also silicone a solid object into glass or ceramic bowls.

What seems to be her issue is eating too much, too fast when the food is 1st put down.
I press the ball into the food. After she's eaten some, she slows down eating. Then it doesn't seem to matter (w/ her) that the ball starts to move around.

If it was a problem, I'd find something solid, like the right sized large bottle cap; small, round glass bottle, etc., use "food grade" silicone to bottom of plastic or glass / ceramic bowl.
Silicone & many adhesives don't stick to all plastics - especially HDPE & PE; not "too well" to acrylic (brand name Lexan).
Something food can't get under & is easy to clean.

Hint: I keep 2 - 3 golf balls. When pick up the empty dish, quick rinse the ball & drop in small glass w/ detergent to soak.
Previous ball that was soaking, I take out & rinse well (dimples catch soap, tiny food particles) & let it dry for next meal.
Food grade silicone (many brands) is rated for food prep areas."http://www.lowes.com/pd/DAP-Commercial-Kitchen-9-8-oz-Stainless-Steel-Silicone-Specialty-
Caulk/50296373#collapseSpecs

If I glued something in middle of bowls, I'd put most the silicone silicone either under the object's bottom or on inside of an inverted small jar, where it meets the bowl.
A good solid caulking bead around the perimeter of "barrier object" - so no water or food can get under it.
So not a lot of silicone is sticking out where they could lick, claw it. After it dries, you can trim excess w/ a razor blade, etc.
