I called the vet and they said as long as they are holding steady and are active to keep trying to feed them. I mixed up some A/D, water and KMR. I used the pipette and fed them while they were in their bed. That worked the best. I actually got some into them. :-)

My kitten guru is going to come over and show me how to feed them. Hopefully between Momma and me they will continue to gain weight.

I just wanted to jump in with an update. My friend came over and showed me how to feed the kittens and she set up a pack and play for the kittens (I was using a dog crate). She is wonderful, she helped me so much. I just weighed everybody and the little girl gained two ounces!! The other two gained an ounce each. They are starting to pee and poop a little on their own. Only one had pee with I  stimulated her. :-)

Hello, I wanted to post an update for Momma and the babies. Well, we got back from the vets this afternoon. :-( They spent six days there! Last week Momma wasn't eating much and throwing up. Then on Wednesday she had liquid diarrhea that looked bloody to me. The vet got that fixed (I think she was still full of worms). Everybody got dewormed. They kept everybody to try get some weight on Momma and keep weight on babies. Turns out I have two boys and a girl not two girls. :-) They had them confused with some orphans they are bottle feeding.

They have started them on a combo of A/D and kitten food mush. They told me how to make it I just need to borrow an immersion blender. Two of them are still having a hard time gaining so In addition to Momma still nursing a couple times a day I'm going to have to keep feeding them.

The good news is they are running and playing and starting to use a litter box. They are going online soon so hopefully when they are eight weeks old they can go into foster to adopt homes and I'm hoping Momma gets adopted too.

Thank you everyone who has given me advise and encouragement. Now I know why I adopt older cats or at least weaned kittens. ;-)

Aww - poor mom and babies. So sorry they and you had to go through that!

Are you supplementing? Or are they all eating on their own? Is mom eating lots now?

They really should not go up for adoption until they are eating well and caught up weight-wise!

Thank you for taking them on. Pregnant cats and kittens can definitely be a challenge! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Just a little stressful. ;)

Yes i'm supplementing with kitten mush and KMR. They are not eating on their own yet, I thought i'd try this weekend. Momma is eating a ton.

I will keep them until they are a good weight and eating and using the litterbox on their own. I'm just hoping they can go from me to their forever home.

This has been a learning experience for me. I thought I knew cats! It has made me better prepared for the next time I foster. I cannot be a foster failure again (i'm a six time loser!) [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Quick question. I'm starting to wean the kittens so I'm making kitten mush. I softened a bunch of dry food this afternoon but forgot to refrigerate it. is it ok or not?

Also, one of the boys has a gunky eye so I picked up some ointment today. poor babies.

I have got to figure out if I can post pictures from a mobile device.

You should be able to post from a smart phone. I do it all the time with my iPhone.

I think the mush you made should be okay. Have you tried making soupy wet food yet?

Yes. The vet was mixing wet and water then dry food and water and blending it with an immersion blender. Last night I just used the wet food mush. I tried a shallow dish today and they just walked through it. :-)

At 5 weeks old they may not quite be ready. Once they start to eat though, they learn quickly. They may show more interest in another week.

We have baby poop! Actual formed poop! Some of it was even in the litter box!

Mowgli ate like a trucker this morning. He was trying to chew on the pipette!

Hello, I wanted to post a quick update. The babies are doing very well! Everyone weighs at least a pound and weaning is going well. They are still nursing a little but I've only seen them nurse once in the last few days. I think Momma is over it.
She has been at the top of the basement stairs a few times, she has no idea how many cats there are up there!

I have already put some pictures of them online to try to get them adopted. I still really want them to go to foster to adopt homes at about nine weeks but it's kitten season so you know how that goes. Our center is full so if they don't get adopted right away they will all stay here.

I wanted to give a huge thank you to everyone who helped me and gave me advise especially sarthur2!

You are very welcome! That's what we are here for.

I'm happy to hear they are doing so well, and that they'll have a home with you until they are adopted.

We'd love to see pictures if you get a chance!

I have got to figure out if I can post pictures from a mobile device.
The mobile version of the site has some issues to be sorted out so you can switch to the desk top version on your phone. This isn't as smartphone friendly but may solve the posting photos problem.

Just passing this forward from mentor PhiCat who answered a similar question of mine. Also said they are working on the mobile side.

Using my iPhone, I am able to easily post photos on the mobile version. Of course, desktop works well too! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Most of my pictures are on my Kindle. I'm the last person in America without a smartphone. :-)

I will try to post pictures tomorrow. They are so stinking cute!
