My cat has clear liquid coming out of her nose, she's doing this hiccup like thing and seems like she's gasping for air sometimes when she does it. Any ideas of what she has & how to help her?

If at all possible, I would take your kitty to the vet.  Is there any discharge from the eyes?

Hopefully some more experienced members will chime in here, but I would definitely try to get an appointment at the vet ASAP.

Hi, I have nursed three of my cats through URIs more than once, but they never did what you described. Hopefully, it's just because her nose is stuffed and she is having to breathe through her mouth. However, it is possible that she is developing pneumonia with it and that is the real danger with URIs. Put your head on her tummy and listen to her lungs to see if they are clear or if you hear any wheezing sounds. If they are not clear, you do need to take her to the vet.

The vet said she has a URI. He gave her a shot, she should be ok.

Now that your cat has been treated by the vet perhaps steam treatment would help her feel more comfortable. Run the shower as hot as you can get and steam up your bathroom. Take your cat into the bathroom and sit with her in the steam for about 15-20 minutes 2-3 times a day. This has really helped my cats with URI's. I did this with my Apollo who hates being picked up. He complained at me for a little bit and then realized I was helping him. He demanded to be steamed twice a day until he felt better by sitting in the bathroom meowing at me until he got his treatments. He also started hanging out in the bathroom when hubby or I showered.

The hiccuping you're describing is called a laryngospasm, which is a type of reverse sneezing that cat's will do when mucus accumulates in the back of their throat.  They take in air and spasm to try to expel the secretions.

I sure hope your kitty is felling better very soon.

The vet told me to put saline drops in her nose 3 times a day in place of the steam treatment. She is sweet so doing the saline drops isn't hard thankfully.

Evey is finally better. The fur on her face changed to a salt & pepper look but from what I've read it should go back to its normal black color...i hope.
