Found 2 kittens about a week ago. Both of them have Yellow Discharge coming out of there eyes every time they fall asleep and wake back up and it hardens so I'm constantly cleaning there eyes. What can his be ?!?!?!?

One of them has an infected bump on her head probably from the mom when she would Cary them around . puss would come out when I touch it . I'm in the process of taking them to the vet but they are overbooked until Saturday. Both of their voices just recently started getting horse as if it hurt to cry.

Can somebody explain what is happening until I take them to the vet?

It sounds like they may have upper respiratory infections - either combined with or stand-alone eye infections.  Do you notice any other problems such as difficulty breathing? Are they eating and eliminating ok?

A lot of kittens who are born outside to feral/stray moms have these issues.  I'm not sure what you can do for them aside from what you're already doing; which is to keep the crud from building up too much.  Eye infections can become pretty severe and sometime result in blindness or needing the eye removed.

Hopefully, on Saturday the vet will be able to prescribe something to help. I'd assume antibiotic ointment will make a world of difference to them.  The bump leaking pus is particularly concerning but might also be very treatable. Only a vet could give you accurate medical advice.  Hopefully someone else here will be able to answer your questions better than I can.

Keep them warm, dry and comfortable for now.  If you can find another vet to help you before Saturday, that would be awesome.  Maybe a bit of pleading their case will help.  Thanks so much for taking them home and caring for them!

Thank you so much for explaining a lot of this ! im making sure both kittens are drinking substitute milt every 2 hours and they have no problem eliminating or breathing . I'm doing everything I can to make sure they are comfortable and happy. It's just very concerning with the problems they are having at the moment . Once again I really appreciate your help it means the world I'll keep you updated on their status !:)

Thank you for taking them in! They do definitely need to be warm, fed, and pottied. Please keep cleaning the eyes as often as needed until they can see a vet for antibiotic eye ointment.

Do you have weights on them?

I don't have weight on them yet :( the gray kitten with the head infection doesn't like to eat as often as her sister she rather sleep most of the day unless I wake her up. I make sure she finishes a bottle a day of kitten substitute formula. However her sister the black kitten is gaining weight she seems to be more healthier and active . Both are going potty just fine no diarrhea. However they both are starting to lose their voice. when they cry it sounds like it hurts them. Hopefully it's just a sore throat and nothing more serious.

How much would you guesstimate ointment for the head and eyes would be ? Like a rough estimate ?

It's really hard to say, given that it varies so much based on your location.  They really need to eat every two hours; very glad you are able to do this, even if you have to wake them.  How much and what are you feeding them?  Do they potty on their own or are you stimulating?

I live in California . I feed them "Esential Pets Milk Replacer" every 2 hours the gray cat doesn't seem much interested in food she rather sleep due to her head infection. I force her to drink until she absolute throws a fit and spits the milk out. She drinks a good amount of milk a day "not as much as she is suppose to" but so far no potty issues, after I feed them I stimulate them to go pee . I'm more worried about her lack of appetite . The other cat drinks her formula just fine and falls back to sleep she is gaining weight.

Your kitten with the head infection needs an antibiotic asap in order to get well. When she feels better, her appetite will return. They both need terramycin eye ointment for the eye infection, which is common in stray kittens.

You should be charged only one office visit fee for the two kittens together, plus the cost for the meds. The vet office should be able to tell you over the phone how much an office visit is so you know in advance.

Thank you for caring for these two babies! Do you have a heat source for them? Such as a heating pad set on low, or sock filled with rice and microwaved for 5 minutes? Kittens cannot regulate their own body temperature the first 3 weeks.

Please continue to post updates on this thread.

Thank you so much for the information ! Could the kittens possible get sick if they didn't have a source of heat ? I made sure to buy them a warm nestlike bed. And properly put blankets around in their box. I also covered the top with a breathable cloth so it stays dark while they sleep at all times. They appear better than when I found them. All I'm concerned about right now is the head infection and soar throat. I'll be taking them into the vet Saturday morning ! I will keep you updated !:)

They actually need a heat SOURCE, like I discussed above, not just blankets, because they cannot generate their own body heat for the first 3 weeks.

Let us know what the vet says on Saturday. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

This may be helpful.  It's illustrated, step by step.  And there's a chart on how to feed (days 1 through 3 and so on)

Just remember, when kittens are fed they must be belly down like when they feed on mama.  There are several drawings that show the kitten on it's back holding the bottle.

Not to beleaguer the point but they really do need a heat source.  Like you've been told, a hot water bottle, a heating pad or a rice sock would work, but simply wrapping the kittens up in a blanket won't do.

Okay I took them to the vet today !! They both turned out to be boys!!! Both of them had their nails trimmed and She prescribed both kittens with "CLAVAMOX" due to upper respiratory infection. The kitten with the Head infection had a pretty bad cut on his head. The cut wasn't breathing at all so that's why it was pussing up, so she removed the scab with clumped up hair. She told me to put a small amount of neo sporin on his head daily. Both of them are 3 weeks old the black one weighs 15 ounces and the gray kitten weighs 12 ounces he hasn't gotten his appetite back yet i hope he will soon! Also thank you "SARTHUR2 " for the heat source information for warming Rise up, they both love it !

So once again Thank You All so much! for all the information it really warms my heart knowing that people love and care about animals just as much as I do !
