I got my cat about 5 days ago, at first I was under the impression that she was a female, but now I'm almost positive he's actually a male. he's a 2 months old Scottish fold. He's the most social and playful little kitten I've ever come across off. we play a lot, and during the day,  he uses the litter box like a champ, but 2 days ago he started peeing on the bed at night when I'm sleeping and today i woke up to poop instead of pee. It's strange because we don't have problems during the day at all its just at night. my apartment is really tiny so its not like there's a lot of space and he can't make it in time. I'm already very fond of him, when I'm on the couch or bed he climbs up and starts licking my entire face, i don't really know what the means.

can anyone offer some help and insight, please? I would appreciate any advice you can give me.

first it was Olivia now its Theodore hahah

Welllllll really, it could be a couple of things. One, a common cause of cats using the bathroom where they're not supposed to is because of a Urinary Tract Infection, which are very common in male cats who eat primarily dry food. The only person who could determine this is the vet though, and I would suggest running him by one if you can.
Two, if you don't already, make sure you scoop his litterbox daily. If it smells bad, or he doesn't like the litter then he might simply be refusing to go in it. I would suggest maybe setting up a box in your bedroom or in another area of the house if you only have one.
Three, he could be acting out for attention. It sounds bratty, but cats can definitely be bratty. I can't really give you advice if this is the case, other than more more play time.
He's a very handsome little boy! I'm glad you've found a sweet kitty [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Thank you for your reply.
I am planning a visit to the vet really soon but it can't make it until next week.

I scoop the litter multiple times a day. But now that you've mentioned that they don't like the bad smells. I keep a plastic bag next to the litter box that contains all the poop. I'll remove that out of the equation. I've cleaned the mattress and put a different set of sheets hopefully we won't have any accidents.
My apartment is really tiny it's like a New York City apartment and my bathroom is right next to the bedroom so the litter box is close.

He has my full attention when I'm home we're inseparable. I'm hoping this will pass soon bc waking up to supposes every morning is not pleasent hahah.

I'm just confused bc during the day he uses the litter box and we've never had any accidents.

Beautiful kitty

A product called  Nature's Miracle  works wonders on cleaning up any cat urine, odors etc.

They normally go to washroom after eating, drinking is there lots of light to get to kitty box in the early hours?

Easy access to litter box in your bedroom?  You can place her in a crate have her near you on the bed

they normally don't like to soil their own bed will let you know or hold it until you place her into the litterbox

she will get the idea.  If of course there are no problems medically as suggested ;)

We can Sex him her for you if you post a photo

I'll look for places that sell that  hopefully, I can find it here as there's not really a variety or products here in Lebanon.

As for the light, there's not a lot of light in the bathroom but I'm gonna try and keep my hallway light on. The bathroom is right next to the bedroom so it should be really easy to access.

If you can actually sex him/her for me would really appreciate here's a picture:

I'm sorry if its gross or anything like that.

I've also noticed that at night if he's not sleeping on top of me he goes and sleeps on the nightstand  which is right next to my head.

thank youuu

Can you contact the breeder or place you purchased Theodore from?

Have you changed to a different brand or type of litter other than what kitty is used to?

Not all cats like some scented brands etc.

You were right it's Theodore!

Yep, he's a boy! :D

Since the breeder couldn't even tell gender :/, I would guess they aren't very good at taking care of kittens. Plus if he's only 8 weeks old, he hasn't learned all his cat manners from his mother.

So he'll probably need remedial litter training. Put him in the litterbox after every meal, after playing, any other time you think he may need to go. If he does use the litterbox, praise him and give him a little treat. If he continues missing the box when unsupervised, you may need to keep him in a small room or cage when you can't watch him. That way he can't get too far from the litterbox and will develop a good habit of using it. It really comes down to him developing habits---if he goes outside the litterbox a lot, he may develop the habit of not using the box----bad! If you make sure he uses the box he'll develop the habit of using the box---good!

Even though kittens don't need as much training as a puppy, a lot of them still need some litterbox training! They're just babies after all.

I'm no expert but that looks like a boy to me . . . and I'm betting his litter-box avoidance is due to a uti.

As willowy said if they can't tell the gender I don't think they're going to be of much help.

Here's the strange thing though. Last night after the accident I picked him and we went to the bathroom, he didn't go or anything but every time I thought he would I put him on the litter. I also set up a makeshift litter box In the bedroom just in case.

We went to bed and from what I can tell slept through the night. I was convinced I'm going to wake up to a nice little surprise but to my dismay he didn't go on the beds!! In fact he didn't go at all. Then after waking he went to the litter box in the bathroom and did his number 1 and 2.

He's as confusing as he's cute hahah

May just be adjusting to his new place...he's own his own, and figuring out your routine.  And yes, he's Theodore.  And he'll need to be neutered fairly soon, so start setting pennies back for that.  You do NOT want him to spray, even once!

Just my two cents.  I doubt he has a UTI.  I think he's too young to have developed a urinary infection.  They take some time to develop.  I am in  small NYC apt also.  Keep the box clean.  I use "The Worlds greatest Cat Litter."  It is a bit more expensive, but it is very good.  You can scoop everything out and just flush it right down the toilet.  It is natural - made of corn I think.  Get the non-scented kind.  I also agree that he may not have been properly socialized and trained.  I think 8 weeks is a bit young to have come from a breeder.  Good luck.

thank you guyss.

It's been 2 days now with no accidents. I've been using positive reinforcement for the litter training and it seems to be working. I'm also very careful about cleaning the litter, I try my best to have a smell free bathroom. I noticed last night that he went to the litter when I was sleeping. Really pleased about that.

He cleans my face every night and then sleep on the same pillow. I'm getting really attached to the ball of fluff, and want to do my best have a nice home for him.

Thank you for all your help really appreciate it

That's great! It's instinctual for kittens to use litter, but sometimes you have to help those instincts kick in :D.

Um...now that we've seen the X-rated pic of Theodore, how about a head shot?  Or an entire kitten shot...

OH!  What a doll!

Well, when I have to clean Hekitty's eyes (and she is not a girl to take being trifled with lightly), I thoroughly wet a soft cloth with barely warm water and hold it lightly against her eye for a moment to loosen the "goop", then gently wipe outward and slightly downward, rinse the cloth and repeat, including the soak.

Theodore is absolutely gorgeous.

I hope you have realised by now that you want to reread the labels on the canned food or kibble you choose. Check for no synthetic vitamins or minerals as they cause undue hardship in time. I dealt with itching for no reason for months with no fleas and finally found nature's logic for my solutions.  Food is fuel for his cells and you want to spend your money on nourishment so later it will not be in veterinary care.  So many fine cat foods are required by law to add supplements to their wonderful formulas, whereas Nature's Logic found another solution.  My cat is 3 years old and lost so much sleep and coat with my not knowing that the closest to nature I can get is best for her.

Enjoy your precious bundle of joy and laughter.
