Hey everyone!! My poor kitten who is about 6 weeks old had creamy diarrhea and it had bloody mucous in it!! I recently changed their kibble to a kitten kibble...could this just be the stomach adjusting to the food!? The mama and dad eat the kibble and haven't had any problems. Its just the kittens are now pooping. Also mom.got spayed recently and they threw up some dried milk. :( should I worry or just give it a day or 2 to see if they adjust to it!???

It sounds like they need to see a vet. They might need to be dewormed, or it might be a different parasite. In either case, blood and mucus are not normal. Please let us know what the vet says!

Both his parents have been dewormed so idk if he'd have parasites but I am open to everything. He is sleeping now. I think he may be slightly dehydrated too. He was so healthy and playful and growing just yesterday. He was pooping normally too. And he had the biggest appetite! I'm short on money since I just got the mother spayed. But if I have to I will bring him into the wet.

Kittens Will likely still need deworming. I really think you should bring him in. Kittens can go downhill so quickly.

Yeah I think I will schedule an appointment for him! So far his 3 siblings seem alright. They are all playing and climbing. I'm wondering if he has distemper maybe??

Can you syringe some clear pedialyte into him in the meantime? Dehydration is never good. Lethargy is a red flag as well. You can rub honey on his gums to perk him up. Is he back nursing mom yet? It is possible that he had a reaction to a drug from the spay surgery that came through mom's milk. Is he any better yet?

I'm wondering if he ingested his litter or something and maybe that caused the stomach upset.

Update:  His poop has no more mucous and no more blood in it. He is still having runny poop but only 2 times a day! it is creamy and green now. He got this when i changed his food. I got Now Fresh kitten kibbles. All my other cats love it and seem to be pooping fine. The kittens are 6 weeks old and i still cant get them to use the litter box! >___< Im wondering if he is adjusting to the change in his food. I did mix the water dish with pedaltye and water for him! Well update again later on his condition.

Actually, it may be the change in food. It's good he's getting the pedialyte. You may want to add a small amount of plain, canned pumpkin to his food. This will usually help with runs. If it doesn't improve, call the vet.

Try putting the kittens in the litter pan several times a day, particularly after meals. They are at just the right age to train now!

Yes, you need to at least switch HIS food. He's clearly allergic to an ingredient in the food. I would not give him anymore of it at all.

I would definitley go to the vet, most kittens need to be dewormed 2-3 times. Runny diahrea is the most common sign of a intestinal parasite of some sort.

Just got back from the vet. She gave him fluids a dewormer and an anti biotic. She isn't sure exactly which one is causing the problem. They gave me a canned food to give my kittens. He's now eating it. She took some blood to test his kidney functions too. The only problem I am having now is that his mother cat is growling and hissing an trying to attack him!!

I have rubbed him down in a towel that his mother uses and she has seemed to calm down a bit. Idk why she is acting like this. I feel bad for him now.
