Welcome to the site, am from Australia here and I find this site very useful am sure you will find it is too.

Welcome, Cobey and Gizmo are adorable.  

I'm semi new to this forum as well and in the three months of joining, I'm finding it extremely helpful and full of invaluable information.  I think you will find this to be a warm welcoming community of fellow cat lovers.  At least that's been my experience.

Cats are lots of fun and when you take the time and teach them games, they can be as engaging as dogs, if not more.  

I love teaching them tricks, and my experience in teaching is repetition...  play 1 or 2 tricks/games per day or longer.  They will remember, then you can move on to other games, by months end, they will know lots of games and tricks, and will have the ability to entertain themselves when you're not around.  

They're like children, if you pull out all the toys at once, they will play with everything for a little bit, then leave a mess and get bored. LOL  this is just based on what I've done with my little one, If I pull out a couple of different balls or mice per day, he plays hard then switches them out.

My boy Simon's favorite game is monkey in the middle.  with the bell balls and mice...

I can't stress this more, the laser pointer is your friend.  

We use a red laser pointer I got from Office Depot (the ones used in pet stores break easily, and the light is the same, from what I've read on spec's)  If someone out knows otherwise, please let me know...  I also have a pen light, with a white light.  Just make sure the cat doesn't look at the light or shine it in their eyes.  Endless fun will be had...
