My old range was is '89 (yes, I found the receipt when I moved into this place!).. and it was time to upgrade. It was a Magic Chef, and I don't think they make those anymore!

Anyways, I just purchased a Samsung gas range yesterday from Home Depot (it was an overstock- online item and the deal was too good to pass up). Excellent reviews (4.5 stars with 299 reviews)

I was reading the manual.. and it has the following modes, which was good for a giggle.. and now I am curious about them:

• Chicken Nugget Mode

• Pizza Mode

• Bread Proofing

• Sabbath Mode (can I pretend to be Jewish to try out this mode?!)

Does anyone have the above modes? Do you use it? What's it for?! lol.

I am wondering if seeing these buttons will drive me nuts or not in the long run, but we'll see.

Other nifty features is delayed bake/delay start, warming, and favorites.

The 5th middle elongated burner with a griddle was a HUGE plus for me!

I feel like I am being thrown into the future of gas ranges with these new nifty modern features, lol. I am eager to get this in and installed this Saturday!

I've never seen that before, but my guess is that it's an auto time and temp setting, similar to the ones on microwaves. The one for proofing bread must be great - it's always hard to get a low enough temp to let bread rise. The Sabbath mode would be for conservative Jews who do no cooking on Saturday. They can put whatever in the oven the day before and set it to start the next day.

Congratulations   I agree it sounds like automatic modes.  No  thinking for the  common place items.  It's amazing what they can do with electronics now.  I have seen adds for washing machines that do the same thing.  Select fabric and degree of soil and push start, the machine picks the temp and cycle for you.

man, us Americans are getting lazy

It's cool though, I think it's awesome for someone like me who lives alone and just wants a quick meal (and I do eat Chicken Nuggets)

I guess it's like a microwave, press a button and be done. I am used to turning one dial to a temp and that's that.

My sister's stove had those and she actually uses them.  The notated foods always come out fine using the settings indicated.

I love the fact there is a Sabbath mode LOL. I know people who would love this so, Mozel Tov on your new appliance

My stove has the Sabbath Mode and the Proof Mode. I use the Proof Mode in the winter to help my breads rise (you have to be a little careful with it; I always put a bowl of really hot water in with the bread, otherwise sometimes it will get too dry). Never used the Sabbath Mode, but I know it has it.

I have no idea what a Chicken Nugget or the Pizza Mode is for. I wonder if the Pizza Mode makes your oven really hot or sets it to the hottest temp? If so, I could use something like that; most regular kitchen ovens don't get hot enough to do a pizza the way it should be done.

Mine has chicken nuggets and pizza. :lol3: I guess it is supposed to cook them in the optimum way. I rarely use the pizza one and I did go out and buy frozen chicken nuggets after getting the stove just to try it out. :lol3:

Lol it's ok!! You're just excited for me!

It's here! They were in and out in 20 minutes. Right now I am doing the initial 400 degree cook as suggested- I guess to prep and burn off any excess materials

Oh pretty!! Let us know how those fancy modes work! My stove is pretty basic and I like it. :lol3: When I needed a new washing machine this winter i had trouble finding one without too many bells and whistles. I still haven't used all the settings! ;)

From photo I notice space between walk and stove. Cat Person... watch out. I had a similar gap between my fridge and counter and discovered over 50 paper balls in there deposited by my Pippin.

My favorite part of the Sabbath mode is not so much that it is there but that it is called Sabbath mode.
