Is raw food the only way to eliminate a stinky litter box?

Hi guys...

so I recently have been feeding my cats 4 different flavors of Stella and Chewy's freeze dried every day for almost a week. I LOVE the results of absolutely NO stinky litter box and no messy poo and I love feeding it to them. But I think they get bored of it every day. I've been struggling the last couple meals to get them to eat it! So I went out and bought some more canned food (trying Hound and Gatos this time). ...dreading the litter smells.

Is there ANY canned food that has the same, or similar-ish results to feeding raw? I've fed them Sheba pate and Fancy Feast Classics in the past, and their poo smelled so bad (the food smells bad in the first place)...the smell kind of reminded me of pungent Cheerios actually...lol anyway.

So if anyone knows of any canned food that results in bearable poop smells, or if the only way out is feeding raw, let me know.

I was thinking Hound and Gatos might not contribute to stinky poo since it's such limited ingredients. I guess there's only one way to find out! My order is on its way.

I want to try Weruva as well, seeing as how there's limited ingredients in there as well, as well as Wild Calling.

If any of you have experience with these brands, let me know!! :)

I love Weruva as a canned food. One problem is several of the varieties are very low calorie. I can't comment for how it goes with the litter box since I rotate it with lower quality food.

I feed half raw and half canned and I alternate my canned foods.  I personally think the raw mitigates the feces odor caused by the canned food,  Even so, the size of the actual feces is a little bit larger than it was when they were being fed solely raw food.  It's certainly not odorless, like it was one 100% raw diet; however, it's nowhere near as bad as it would be on a all canned diet.

The absolute worst smelling cat poop came from Evo!  OMG, you just can't imagine.  At the time I had one of those litter boxes that looked like furniture in my bedroom and if my cats pooped at night it would wake me and my partner up.  And there was no going back to sleep until that box had been cleaned.

Utterly horrible.

It's the same with our cats: we feed them a combination that's now raw, homecooked, and canned, and their boxes don't smell much at all.

Every cat is different but we try to feed foods that are as usable for a cat's body as possible so they get foods with lots of meat (no by-products, though I don't think those are as awful as some people say they are!) and as low-carb as possible. I do think liver might make one cat's poops smell a bit, though I haven't paid close enough attention to be sure.

Our cats do well on Weruva but I avoid all their foods with potato, which is just an unnecessary starch. Other canned brands we feed: Tiki (the best), Bravo, Hound & Gatos lamb, Merrick LID, Nutro Natural Choice. I'm cutting back on canned, though, in favor of one meal a day of homecooked, which I make with EZcomplete: the cats love it and it really is easy to make.

Good luck!

Thanks for the input! It's encouraging to know that adding raw will cut down on the smells.

I read on the conscious cat (I think) that sprinkling nutritional yeast flakes on their food encourages them to eat. I tried it. It works as well as, if not better than Pure Bites! And is quite a bit cheaper. Just thought I'd pass that along if anyone is struggling to get their cats to eat!
