Hi there,

so basically there is this black and white cat that keeps coming into our garden, been coming for a few months now. It has no collar and we have been feeding it everyday. My mum told me that a neighbour said it belongs to someone on our road but when it comes to our house, it always seems so hungry and the cat looks a little rough. my mum said it looks old as well. I just want you guys to tell me how old do you think it is, if it may have a sickness, if its a boy or girl etc... The cat is so scared of us :( and even though I have been feeding it for months, it runs away when we go near it. I have a cat, who was a stray who turned up in our garden august last year with 5 kittens ( the 5 kittens are all living on a farm together as they were feral and the mum is ours :) seems to get on with this cat. Every now and then it goes somewhere with the black and white cat and they sometimes just sit down and meow and have a conversation lol. A couple of times my cat Tyga has gone to sniff its face lol ( I don`t know what that means.)

I thought I would throw in a picture of Tyga as well lol x

It's almost impossible to give an age, health review or sex from the photos, I'm sorry.

Are you thinking of seeing if you can adopt her/him?

It's not uncommon for cats to sniff each other.. my two do it a lot, just in passing.

Thank you for offering refuge for that pretty cat.  IMO, the narrowing of the forehead and the "shaggy" fur looks like that of an older cat.  The fur looks rough which can be either/and lack of ability to groom well or poor fur condition, usually due to nutritional deficiency. Even if the cat is "owned", s/he looks neglected.

Bless you for finding a good  placement for that litter of kittens and congratulations on Tyga, the stunningly beautiful cat

It looks like an older tomcat. His head is tomcat-ish and he's got the tatty ears of an old fighter. A tom can look like that within a few years, so when I say "older" I don't mean really old :tongue2:. I just mean he's not a kitten anymore. It would be greta if 6ou could trap him and have him neutered and vaccinated. . .ask around; some areas have a feral cat group that will help with that.

He looks like an older tom cat to me as well.

I see that you're in London. Try the Cat's Protection League, they do a TNR program and there are several offices throughout the London area. You could also try Celia Hammond Animal Rescue. Even if it's impossible to re-home him getting him checked over by a vet and neutered if need be will make his life a lot better.

Thank you for all the replies! sorry I took so long, i forgot I had posted this lol but that was helpful! I was shocked to find out that this cat was owned as well because it does look very rough and towards the ear looked a bit patchy to me. We do feed it when it comes and it always eats everything so Ii agree with the part that It is probably neglected. It meows really loudly and sounds almost as if it is crying :( x

And thanks for complimenting Tyga lol. For a stray, she had really well kept fur and is constantly keeping herself clean! She knew how to use the litter tray straight away ( she goes outside now in an old box of soil as she is an indoor and outdor cat) although she is a bit feisty sometimes lol. Sometimes she sniffs the other cat but other times she looks as if she is standing guard saying this is my house lol x

Where do you think?
Love the ear notch my old cat had lots of them. She was indoors though. Before she got adopted she was born feral but quickly became my velcro cat.
