Possible resorption?

I recently rescued a very pregnant cat from the streets. She is about 8 weeks pregnant by my estimate. Yesterday I could feel the kittens and their movements, but today she seems smaller and I can no longer feel anything. I initially thought her kittens had moved into position, as there was lots of moving the last few days, but it seems like more might be happening than that. I suppose my question is "is it possible to resorp kittens so late in a pregnancy or is she just getting really close to giving birth?"

I've checked everywhere for fluid or membranes, and she's confined to just one room, so I'm about positive that they haven't been born yet.

She's probably getting ready for labor and delivery. Kittens that far along do not get absorbed. They must be born. Is she eating well?

She is eating very well still. I assumed the resorption thing wasnt really plausible at this stage, but wow! I've never seen a pregnant cat shrink so much before birth.

Here she was a few days ago. Not huge but I think it's a small litter. My guess is.... Three kittens. I suppose we'll see soon.

She really does not look that big. Do you suppose she is not as far along as you thought?

That's definitely possible for sure, though the lumps in her tummy were nearly five inches long when they fully stretched out. She's had some discharge (just little bit, and clear) for the last few days. She was much bigger in the time between those photos, but she really shrunk a ton. I'm not sure what to make of it.

Then she must be preparing for birth. Can you feel kittens down lower now - more towards her back end or in her belly below?

I can feel them lower by her pelvis when she rolls onto her back for tummy rubs. She hasn't actually eaten yet this morning, though she is free-fed kitten food. Yesterday night she ate a bunch though. I was thinking yesterday that she'd have only one, as I could only feel one lump at a time. I've never had a singleton before. My first guess was three though, so I have to go with it.

Okay, well no kittens yet. This whole waiting game gets me every time. Anyway, her stomach got big again, so I guess the kittens have been shifting around. She's also getting much more into nesting since yesterday. I'll keep you all updated, and post pics when they arrive.

Now to wait. Some more.

My rescue queen Melian must be getting close to 63 days now, considering she was already big four weeks ago.

In any case, yesterday evening she had a tiny bit of brown/old blood/mucus discharge. This morning her discharge is clear. If the discharge changes like this is it possible that she delayed or interrupted labor for some reason?

My guess on her age is between nine and twelve months.

I dont think its possible to be that specifically scientfic.  Most probably it was "just" discharges. Possibley, the first  the mucus plug, the next day a common discharge.

If you dont have an exact count, the easiest is to register the kittens moving - you feel them move 2- sometimes even 3 weeks before delivery. The last two-three days she drops (seems smaller) and you dont feel the kittens as much as before - also, they are now further down.

Usually she wants to be rubbed on the tummy - even these whom usually dont likes to be touched on the tummy.  Do so, it helps her.

There are many small signs on nearing delivery, unfortunely, none of them is entirely reliable, and the Waiting game is a common pastime here.  The luck is, cats manage a little too long pregnancy better than humans, so usually the best advice is just to wait.  As long momma is OK, no apparent problems, you observe closely but just wait calmly.

No, discharge prior to labor is normal. Clear is best, but pinkish or brownish are normal too.

Discharge has stopped. More kicks than before if that's possible.

She stretches a lot, and makes a whiney noise when she does, but I don't think it's contractions. Her mammaries have been swollen for about a week now.

I've had her for five weeks now. She was visibly pregnant when we brought her in. I'd think she'd be ready to explode by now.

Anyway, still waiting.
