It takes a few weeks to a month. My Salem pulled out two of her claws when she was in her carrier the day she went to get fixed. My vet says it does take a while but they do grow back. Silly kitties that they are. Salem was more fine with it than me I was having nail pain for her

Oh you are so right. I don't think she felt it as much because she was under anesthesia soon afterwards. Good luck with your furbaby  Cats are soooo wonderful!!

One of mine lost all claws from her front paws when I trapped her, she was so desperate to get away from the trap, but claws did grow back eventually, took many weeks though.

She was sleeping calmly on window bed after visit to vet and getting indoors, so it was really pointless to panic, but some of them have so strong will to be free.

Their little stubby is SO sensitive, I believe it was over a month seemed to take forever. If going outside best to keep indoors as much as you can to prevent breaks infections from happening.

Oh poor Sheba.   I imagine it is the same as if we were to pull a whole nail off and I sure never want to experience that.

When my former cat left one of her claws in the carpet it took over a month if I remember right, like others say.    I didn't get to check it for a week because the vet taped her paw up to keep it clean:  the tape took her mind of the pain some as every time she caught a glimps of the white tape she lept about 1 ft in the air, poor kitty.

One thing for sure is she was very protective of that claw for the rest of her life: I don't know if it was more sensitive than the others or she just rembered the pain and was frightened it could come back.  She hated me clipping that one claw but was fine with all the others.

My Wiggies is the same. He lost a claw in a fight with the neighbour's cat a few years ago. It grew back within a month, but it grew back a little wonky. He doesn't seem at all bothered by it except when I trim his nails and he's always a bit sensitive with that claw.

S shebaa your cat's claw looks clean in that picture - not nasty red and infected. I'm sure her nail will grow back just fine. :)

Since a cat's claws are analogous to a human's fingernails, I would expect it to be on a similar time scale.

I have lost fingernails and toenails to injury or infection, over the years.  Not fun!

It took a few weeks for them to start growing back and a few months for them to fully heal.

I lost both toenails from my big toes when my feet got caught under the rungs of a falling ladder.  Luckily, I didn't break any bones but I did have to go to the hospital and have them surgically removed.  In humans, toenails grow more slowly than fingernails.  It took a good six months for them to grow back and it was probably a year before they looked "right" again.

Back to cats...  The thing I would suggest is to keep an eye on them for the first few weeks until you can tell whether they are growing back all right.  If you notice any problems, call the vet.  Once you get past those first few weeks, however, I don't think there will be any problems.

It won't be too long before you'll hardly remember than it even happened.  :)
