Hey all,

I got some 10% panacur liquid for our five month old kitten, Tama. As we got her from a friends accidental litter, she was not wormed when we got her. She then had a case of lungworm when she was about 3 months old, which was treated by the vet for with a monthly dewormer. She had not been wormed since then, but have been attempting to give her the panacur but she hates it with a passion. Also, it has a chemical smell kind of like paint, so she won't eat it with a treat or food.

Also, I am a bit worried about the dosage, according to the instructions on the box, and the website, she is to have 1ml per day, which is an entire syringe, and it seems a lot. She weighs 2.1 kilos and panacur says to take 0.5ml per kilo. Is this correct? It just seems so much and also I think we get more on our clothes than in her mouth.

I have had minimal vet nurse training to administer medicine to cats but I have seen some other methods too. So far we have been wrapping her in a towel to restrain her but it is stressing her out a lot. I am just looking for general opinion and advice, if anyone has any!

Are you giving her the Panacur as a preventative or does she need further treatment for the lungworm? I'm just wondering as it sounds like she had a course of treatment from the vet.
I don't have personal experience with Panacur myself, but I have come across it mentioned here quite a bit and it seems to have a good reputation.
