The picture of Snowball in my signature is posted at Imagestation.com. For the last couple of days, I have noticed that sometimes the picture is there, and sometimes I only see a red X. The same thing seems to be happening to others here. I haven't received any email warnings from Imagestation, and I was wondering if anyone knows what is going on?

Lorie my sig is hosted there as well and I just noticed this morning that it was coming up as a red x - so I don't know what's going on either. I was thinking maybe they've finally stopped remote linking for good, except I didn't get an email or any notice either.

ACK!

Don't tell me that! I've only just joined Imagestation to link pictures to TCS....it's only taken two years to get my act together!
And I've still got to upload all my photos.

It's going to take almost 2 two hours on broadband.

Check out Village Photos They absolutely DO allow remote linking, though there's a nominal cost for a basic account with linking, and I've found them trouble free.

I've been having problems with Image station as well and noticed that others have, darn it I don't know what to do about pictures now.
Any free remote linking out there? I can't use pay ones because I don't have credit cards or pay pal.. etc etc.

I thought I was the only one that noticed something wrong! My photos were x's too today. I made a signature for someone and it wont work. I think they did cancel hosting because I thought maybe the sig was done wrong, but the link was correct and it said something about access denied on server. I hope this isnt permanant cause me and alot of others cant pay to have an image hosted. I wish geocities would work, but if I host a image from my site it only becomes a square *sigh* Oh well. I guess if the discontinued it we'll have to find other options.

I can see the picture of Snowball in my signature again!

Big Kat I still see a red X in your signature.

Gothic_Amethyst I can see two of your pictures, but the one in the middle is still a red X. That doesn't make any sense.

I think I will check out the Village Photos site.

EDIT: I just noticed a change...now I see all of Gothic Amethyst's pictures, but still can't see Big Kat's.

The only time this happened to me was when I emptied my storage bin. I'm not 100% sure if that was the problem though.

I haven't received an email from Imagestation either.

I just signed up at Village Photos, and my signature picture is now hosted there. It's going to cost me $5.00 every six months to have an account that allows remote linking, but that is really reasonable!

I now have a 5MB daily transfer account, and my signature pic only uses 0.02MB.
Not bad!

Thanks rapunzel!!!!

My sig is at imagestation, and I have noticed same, Lorie. As a matter of fact, the other night when I checked over at imagestation, it was a red x over there too!. The next day it was fine, so it's been on and off. Maybe they are having some problems?

The reason you're all having trouble with Imagestation is because they are not a web hosting site. It is against their terms of service to use them as such and they have been cracking down on it. I'm sorry to keep repeating myself (because I've posted about this in many other threads) and sorry to be the bearer of bad news! I used to use them for hosting myself until I found out it's againt their T.O.S. I found a legal alternative and paid a one time fee of $20 to have 1000 files hosted. Below is one section from their Terms of Service.

3. Member's Privileges and Obligations
The Service is available only to individuals over the age of 13. The Service is not available to corporations or other business entities. In order to use the Service, you must first register as a Member. You agree to provide accurate information, as prompted by the registration form, including an accurate email address where you can be contacted. Each individual is allowed to have only one Membership. Membership is intended for personal use only and is non-transferable. You must choose a password. You are responsible for any activity that occurs under your user ID. You agree to immediately notify ImageStation of any unauthorized use of your user ID or another breach of security in relation to the Service. You may use the Service only for your personal, non-commercial use. You may not take the results from your use of the Service and link to them, or mirror pages from the Site on another website, or create links from other websites onto any area of the Site.

Switched my hosting. I'm legal now!

I was aware of the imagestation terms already.

That's what I did too. I did it back when Sicy received mail from them informing her she couldn't do that and to fix it or else.
Better to be legal and not look over your shoulder, is what I think anyway!

Well...not completely legal, because I know I have threads around here someplace that include links to imagestation. I guess I should probably go in and redo all of that.

Ooops! Thanks for the info. It's actually the first time I read that and I guess I didn't quite understand the terms when I signed up. I better look into it.

Ghys, rapunzel recommended www.villagephotos.com I checked the site out and I thought the terms of use were really reasonable so I signed up. One thing that I really like about this site is that you can immediately see how much bandwidth is available for your use when you access your account.

I'm sure I do too but it would take forever to find them all. I suppose I should work at it a little at a time at least.
