These tests do take time.  And it seems even longer since we're all on pins and needles, wanting to know just what makes him the unique little darling that he is!

Excuse me if this information has been posted before, but I haven't seen it ;)

What color was the kitten born with? The same as he looks now with black on the face?

I am the foster. I started to foster him, his mom and 3 siblings about 2.5 weeks ago, so I never saw him as a newborn. They will be 6 weeks on Saturday. His color hasnt changed since I have gotten him though. We are all intrigued with the color and are trying to figure out what he must be a mix of

Yes, this kitten (I should really start figuring out a name!) is still the same coloring as he was when I got him.

From the googling I have done, I do suspect its fever coat more than other breeds I have found. However, I am not familiar with fever coats either so I am open to any opinions, so thank you for yours!

How precious is that face?  I hope that he does keep his coloring, although I know how much kittens can change over the first few months.  Hekitty went through a radical change, from mostly black with just a bit of orange to about half and half.  But she still looks like a mountain aflame in the night.

Durn, I wish those tests would get in...although I know genetic testing can take weeks.

Thank you for posting these precious pics. He is so darling, I can't wait to see what the tests say. Whatever they say he is the cutest kitty. Hug him for all of us. He will give you lots of joy and love.

He is very affectionate on top of being so unique!

I will keep you all posted on the swab testing but I havent sent it in yet. Still waiting on info from the professor so it may be a bit of time.

Thanks everyone for your interest in this little guy!

He has a very light layer of hair, and also appears to have a fever coat. The vet doesn't seem to think there's any medical issues going on with him. Has anyone seen this before? What do you think @Stefanz?
Wow he surely is unusual looking! So adorable!!! I wonder if he has CornishRex in him because of his fur and body structure

So sorry I never responded. Kitten season is so busy right now! I am posting a few new pictures, so you should see an update with them. Thanks for asking about him!

UPDATE: Below are pictures I took of my "unique kitten"

I have not heard from the professor, but certainly appreciate Anne for trying her best to find out what this kittens background may be. I do believe its Fever Coat as he has gotten more black with time.

Hope you all enjoy these pictures. He has turned into a very sweet cat. His litter is now almost 12 weeks. The mom in this litter, a Tortie is the sweetest cat and I think the kittens take after her. There are 4 kittens in this litter and they have joined 8 orphaned kittens that I had at the same time. Those kittens are about a month younger and they get a long with each other very well.

Here you go!

I see his eyes are blue. At that age they should begin to change from their kitten blue.  May he be a combo of point and smoke??

Saying he may be a burmanese point wont help us - they are seldom blue eyed.  And the muzzle is different.

Anyways, he get sweeter and sweeter.

The eyes seem green to me. I stick with fevercoat. Gorgeous kitten nevertheless [emoji]128525[/emoji]
