Hello.

Today let's talk about a subject very dear to my heart. Shoes!

How many pairs of boots and shoes in your collection?

I have;

One pair of hiking boots, very worn.

One pair of New Balance running shoes, all new and pretty.

One pair of flat black leather pumps.

One pair of brown leather ankle boots with a 5 cm heel.

Two pairs of knee length black leather boots. One lace up, one zip up.

One pair of brown suede knee length boots with wedge heels.

One very expensive pair of knee length black riding boots with a red leather band around the top.

One pair of black kid-leather heels with lace cutaway pattern. (They're so pretty! I've only worn them a couple of times. They've got killer heels so they're not really suitable for forest life.)

One pair of flat blue sandals with a flower design across the toes.

One pair of gold and blue sandals with a 5 cm heel.

One pair of red tartan Ugg boots, really only for wearing indoors.

One pair of fluffy brown slippers.

That's all. Oh, I really need to go and buy more shoes.

How about you?

I'm sure I'm going to be the sad sack of this question.  I'm not a shoe person at all.

I only wear AISCS sneakers  at the advice of my orthopedist, because of foot issues.  I have a few pairs of Birkenstock sandals in various colors.  Maybe one or 2 pairs of flat nice shoes "just in case".  I have a couple of pairs of Timberland boots for bad weather.  But it has to be inches of snow before I'd use them.

I just ordered a pair of Vionic sandals so we'll see how those feel vs the Birkies.

Have not worn any heel at all in years.  Just utterly impossible.

Honestly, I'd be happy if I could go barefoot all day, so my eventual retirement goal is to live somewhere warm enough to do that

ummm shoes? YUCK! Ok I have more than I thought..but most don't fit right..I love how shoes look-they don't love my feet..:(

I have maybe 4 pairs that actually fit.

Work boots steel toe-three pairs-one of them only fits if I wear thin thin socks but they don't hurt the bottom of my feet.

The black ones I just bought-they discontinued my Timberlain Titan brown safety toe boots. they were the only boot that fits my strange feet. womans 8 wide or 8.5wide. I also have a pair of Wolverine tall steel toe boots I wore 14 years ago when I first went to finish my welding degree.

Sneakers-bought 2 pairs from Red Shoe barn-they fit at first. now they HURT. I bought them to work out in instead of barefoot or my boots.

I cant stand them after an hour. one is Merrill and the other new balance.

then I have my very favorite sneakers I got for free at a yardsale-they are the only one that actually fits my wide foot where I need it and narrow in the ankle. so my foot doesn't move around or toes get mashed at the edges. I think these are adidas

I have two other pairs of "free shoes" in my truck incase I go walking on the rocks at the ocean-they are razor sharp with barnacles so I always keep a ratty pair of shoes for this.

I have a couple of dress shoes but I haven't worn them in years. Yuck. I cant walk in heels without my knee throbbing and I am just not limber enough. I even bought some of those sexy 5 inch heels with that clear platform on the bottom-yeah they are naughty-I practiced for weeks trying to walk in them but the pain in my shins and the toes just too much. I even tried practicing walking in shorter heels-they don't make the shoe wide enough so I don't teeter. or they have that annoying loop that goes through your first and second toe-cant stand anything between my toes-no rings, no sandals etc.

I have these silver chunk heels that are my favorite but they are looking beat up-I have yet to find another pair like these-the only ones I can walk in..its been 4 years since I have attempted to walk in heels.

I have a black pair of short boots from Tom McCann (sp?) that are my favorite but again I can only wear thin socks with these. They were a find at a yard sale back in my college years in the mid 1990s. I wear these about once a year. Used to wear these on the motorcycle until I got told to wear steel toe instead. so that's why I haven't worn them in a long time.

If I didn't have my knee issue and not a klutz I would try to wear better shoes..so for now I am loving my new black safety toe boots now that its been a week I have had them-they finally getting worn in enough to stop hurting my feet. If I had my choice I would wear those slip-on slippers forever and never wear shoes again

Seven pairs of sneakers but I only wear one most days. One pair is to wear only to the ftiness center. Five are old and worn so need to be tossed  / recycled.

Three pairs of boots: rain boots, snow boots, another pair of snow boots that I can't wear anymore because it's too tight. I can probably give this one to Mom.

Three pairs of business appropriate dress shoes. One I love but doesn't fit anymore

I've never been much a shoe person because I have such difficult-to-fit feet (US size 5.5 EE)

I've found one company that makes stylish shoes in my size, so I'm slowly starting to warm up to shoes.

My collection consists of:

a pair of sneakers (with some sort of stabilizer thing in them, because otherwise, I tend to over-pronate when walking for exercise)

a pair of Birkenstocks (one of the few sandals that I've always been able to wear)

a pair of black heels (work wear)

a pair of nude/beige heels

a pair of maroon boots

a pair of white gold flats.

Now that I have a reliable source of shoes that fit, I may buy more, but these are fairly expensive (but worth it for the sake of not hurting my feet).

I was hoping to hear that someone had 400 pairs of shoes in their closet or had blown a whole months salary on some very special footwear, but you're all so sensible.

I guess I have no excuse for buying any more shoes now.

For years, I wore 8.5 wide. Now, as I've gotten older, I'm up to a 9.5 in walking shoes. Go figure. Even my feet have gained weight!

Anyway:

2 pairs of Brooks walking shoes

1 pair of old Nike walking shoes that I now wear to mow yard and garden

1 pair of wine Clarks slip-ons (that I wear constantly)

5 pairs of ankle boots: black, grey, wine (gorgeous boots!), brown and a tan color

1 pair of bright red heels (I just love them)

1 pair of grey heels

1 pair of black heels

1 pair of navy blue heels

1 pair of black sandals with heels (I can't wear them often because the heels are really high, but I love them)

2 pairs of Dr. Scholl sandals in blue

1 pair of Dr. Scholl sandals in wine/burgandy (I don't know.....a dark red color; they're gorgeous and my sister keeps threatening to come over and steal them)

3 pairs of just regular sandal-type shoes in various shades of brown

2 pairs of flats: one in black and the other in this really neat shade of red

1 pair of Sorel boots for when I used to go out hunting

1 pair of LL Bean snow sneakers for walking at lunch during the winter

1 pair of Sloggers for walking The Beast in the rain and for gardening

1 pair of navy blue booties

1 pair of flats with plaid (don't laugh; they are way cool)

ETA: I forgot about the pair of white New Balance that are thrown in the very back of my closet. Every time I wear those things, I fall flat on my face. After the third fall, I said, "Enough!". I should just toss them.

Remember the two things that keep growing as we age are our feet and our noses! I am not a 'shoe person', unlike my daughter who has a closet just for her hundreds of pairs, I live in Reeboks or Skechers . I have two pairs of dress sandals, one pair of 'work' tennis shoes, and two pairs of dress Skechers. That's it! The only thing I buy regularly is my Skechers. I would like to hear a question about how does the waist of your favorite pair of jeans sit, and what jeans to buy that don't let your rear end hang out with every movement, or do people just not care? My shirts are getting longer and longer!

Maybe nobody here but the woman I replaced at my job 7 years ago, had a really bad shoe addiction.  I know for a fact, because she left a ton of steno pads in the desk with a lot of personal notes in them, that she was trying to sell them off because she was in financial dire straights because of it.  I can't even fathom how someone gets to that point with shoes, although I do understand the mechanism of collecting.  I'd say she had a shoe addiction for sure, it wasn't just collecting.

As an aside, I learned way more than I cared to know about her because of those notes and, she also left all kinds of personal files on the computer which had no passwords.  Yes, of course I looked.
 Read all of it.

I had a job that I left 11 years ago that had someone like this.  We had to have a security clearance and she even had her clearance suspended because of her finances.  They must have run credit checks on everyone and there were three that got caught like that.  The other two worked in an office doing basic errands until they got their finances straight, she was too embarrassed and she quit.  She would go a good month before seeing an outfit a second time.  Her 'outfits' included shoes and a purse that was part of that outfit, she had a thing for Coach purses.  I know about how much she made, it was a decent salary but not enough to shop and dress the way she did.

Like Pam, I have wide feet. I started off at an 8 wide, but now take a 9 wide. In same cases even wide isn't wide enough and I have to go up in size.

I do not like shoe shopping. It is impossible to find shoes that fit my feet. I think I current have 3-5 pairs of sneakers, 4 pairs of flip flops, maybe 6 pairs of heels, a few pairs of basic flat shoes, maybe 6 pairs of sandals and 4 pairs of boots. Oh, and some heavy duty winter boots to wear in the snow.

I don't wear most of them and quite a few are uncomfortable, especially the heels.

Depending on the type of shoe and the manufacturer, I'm anywhere from and 8-10. These days, I seem to be more 8.5 but that changes on occasion still.

I tend to get very swollen ankles, for reasons unknown that I chose not to pursue any further after heart disease was ruled out. So, I don't do anything like strappy sandals or anything fancy. 99% of the time, I wear a pair of mostly black Asics. I have a pair of white running shoes (also Asics) for when I do races. I have a ton of dress shoes, most of which I never wear anymore. Too many blisters have left me with calloused soles that are quite painful. So no heels anymore. I got rid of a lot of them already, and still have a ton more to get rid of it seems. Not as many as some folks, but to me it's a lot, lol.

If I could, I would LOVE to have knee-high boots. Even when I'm at what the FDA considers a normal weight, I have fat calves, so finding boots is next to impossible. However, my friend up in Minneapolis found some (she's in the same predicament) so need to ask her where she got them. I know it was online, and I'm always leery of buying shoes or pants without first trying them on.

Oh, man.  I have a pair of knitted calf boots, a pair of canvas deck shoes and a pair of flip flops that I never wear.  And a pair of slippers.

But if it makes you feel better, @Norachan, when I cleaned out my mom's closet after her death, I had to find homes for 463 pair of sized 5AAA shoes.  Any time she actually found a shoe that fit her, she bought it in every color they had.  She stored them up like nuts for the winter.

And yes, I found homes for them.  One of her dear friends also wore a 5AAA (what are the chances), and the Salvation Army was thrilled to have the others.

3 pairs of Ugg-type short (regular/classic height) boots - grey, navy and tan
3 pairs of Ugg-type 'tall' (mid calf boots) - 1 black, 2 chocolate (one size 36 and one size 37)
1 pair of Ugg-type knee high boots, tan
1 pair of (very) beat up Ugg-type slipper boots - chocolate
1 pair of leather jodhpur boots, black
1 pair of synthetic, fleece lined jodhpur boots, black
2 pairs of knee high fleecey thermal riding boots, brown (one is put away for when the first pair die)
1 pair of steel toe cap yard boots, brown
1 pair of thermal, zip up muckers, navy/tan
2 pairs of knee high winter yard boots, black (mum and I share them ;) )
1 pair of high(ish) heeled leather ankle boots, black
1 pair of mid calf high heeled leather zip boots, black
2 pairs of casual shoe/trainer type shoes - 1 black, 1 cream
2 pairs of flat shoes with straps - 1 blue and 1 mushroom
1 pair of low wedge shoes with straps - black
1 pair of trainers/running shoes - blue/white

I think that's it. Basically, I have severe reynauds, and pretty much live in sheepskin boots of one sort or another year round. Most of the other boots (and the trainers these days) are for dog walking and horsey stuff, with the exception of the smarter shoes and boots. Those are for if I have to dress up or if it (by some miracle) gets hot enough in the summer for me to be able to wear normal shoes and boots and still be able to feel my toes!

That was very clever of her. I have a couple of favourite pairs that are I really should have thrown out long ago. I just can't bear to part with them though. Wish I'd bought 2 pairs when I found them.

I know! Columbine has more than me too. Does that mean I'm allowed to go shoe shopping next pay day?
