I had two Hydrox cookies with my coffee this morning. Our nephew remembered that we had liked the Sunshine Hydrox cookies and he found some in a store down his way. He thought of me and bought a package. My sister brought them over last night.

Years ago, the Hydrox cookie was the cookie. It was made by Sunshine and was really popular. Then Nabisco came up with the Oreo and the rest is history. Nabisco bought Hydrox and phased it out. Now Leaf Brands bought Hydrox from Nabisco and has started to make them again. They're made with real sugar and they really are quite good (but don't tell Rick I said that
Well, actually he also said they're pretty darn good, too, although not as good as the Oreo DoubleStuf.).

Many many moons ago, we got this tiny little black kitten with a few white chest hairs. We were going to call him Oreo, but our neighbors had a little black kitten from the same litter and their little girl called him Oreo. So we decided to call our little guy Hydrox. That little guy lived to be over 20 years old and eventually was designated Hydrox, The Old Coot. He was truly an amazing cat and I don't know of any other cat who knew me as well as he did; he knew when I was sick, he knew when I was feeling down....that cat just knew me. When Rick was in the hospital, Hydrox knew I needed some special help and when I'd come home, Hydrox never left my side. He knew everything; he would spend hours laying on my belly and just watching me with those golden eyes. I always felt that he saw and knew everything. He was quite the kitty.

Anyway, we are really enjoying our Hydrox cookies and the blast from the past.

We used to get Hydrox cookies when I was young before they were cheaper than oreos. :lol3: Loved them as a kid. I like pretty much cookies and cream everything. I won't buy them and have them in the house because I will eat them all. :lol3:

I remember Hyrdox
I used to get them with my "satellite lunch" in elementry school. The school didn't have a kitchen, just a serving area, so meals were prepared off site in a facility in little containers and sent to the school daily. I remember kids trying to trade "yucky" snacks for "good" ones like Hyrdox

I don't remember if Mom ever bought Hyrdox cookies from the supermarket. I remember Oreos but not Hydrox.

This is the best thing I've heard all day!  I loved Hydrox growing up, and hated when they disappeared.  I'll have to look for them in my grocery store.
