Does this kitten look to be long-hair or short?

Looks like a medium hair to me. I know that sounds bland, but I think that coat will have a moderate length, not real long or short-- probably more short than long, and nice density. He has some vestigial facial hair or mini-mane and a short "bib", which you don't see with very short and slick coats like my Siamese has,. The hint of a bib shows up in the first picture, where he's still quite young. The texture is more apparent as he ages. Your little one's tail has some fuzziness to it. And it looks like he's getting some little "britches" that fuzz on the back of his hind legs.

I'll say either DMH or a densely coated DSH.

He sure is a handsome little tyke!

Thank you for the information! Yes he was really fluffy 2 months ago so I expected he'd be long-haired but now that he's lost most of the mane around his face, do you think it'll grow back? Some people have said his fluffiness was just all baby fur so he'd probably be quite short-haired now.

It may come back when he gets his next winter coat. Our Birman mix goes quite short and loses much of her "furnishings" in the summer, but it grows back with her winter coat. Then, she has a very nice, full ruff and bib-- not a lot of mane being female, but an impressive bib and ruff, she gets a little "cape" on her shoulders, and her tail is an impressive plume. In summer... she looks bald, scraggly tail, barely any bib or ruff... it's sad but almost comical. But she might be pulling her fur out with allergies. She has eosinophilic granuloma complex and she gets itchy every spring until the first really good cold snap in fall/winter. Then her winter coat comes in and she looks spectacular again.
