Bless its heart. Thank you for the rice sock. I sure hope mama is feeding it. It needs to be with the others. Hope mama moves it soon. Give mama time to do so. Let me know if she does.

I will.  I'm trying not to hang around except just to feed mama and replace rice socks for baby.  I really want her to move it.  I got the formula you recommended, so I do at least have an emergency backup if things start looking worse.

Thank you for getting the formula. [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Let's see what happens tonight. If mama doesn't move that baby, it's going to need feeding. Let me know when she moves it. We'll worry about getting them in later. Baby needs its family!

You're doing a great job with this sudden situation in your life!

Baby clinging to that sock tells me it needs warmth and mama and siblings! It appears to be hanging on for life. It needs mama. I hope mama takes it! Worried ....

I'm going to tell you how to feed this baby if you need to. You make sure the baby is warm, and you hold it tummy down, head up, like it's feeding from mama. You use a tiny syringe or eye dropper, and you put one drop at a time in its cheek (side of mouth). You let it swallow, breathe, and go again, until you get 1-2 mL's in that baby without causing aspiration into the lungs. Then you hold the baby upright and pat its back and burp it. Then you take a cotton ball, and stimulate the baby to pee by rubbing its tummy and genitals with the cotton, like mama would by licking. They can't go on their own for 3 weeks. Then you do all this again every 2-3 hours. This is if mama does not take the baby or feed it. If it's crying from hunger. Mix the formula like the can says. If mama takes the baby, give mama some KMR every day.

Thank you.  I'll put that in a text file so I can have it even if my internet goes out again.  Providing she does come and get baby, how much KMR for mama?

I think so.  The dry food keeps getting eaten.

Good! And I hope she's getting wet food meals 3x/day from you too, in addition to chicken snacks. Hopefully, we'll know by morning if she took the last baby, or if she is still going back and forth feeding it and the others. Or if it's been abandoned. [emoji]128533[/emoji]

A decision will need to be made tomorrow otherwise, about what to do with it. Let's keep the faith tonight! [emoji]128522[/emoji]

Yep!  She had three wet food plates, constant supply of dry food, and chicken off and on all day.  She also seems to like granola, but I didn't mean to give that to her, my breakfast kind of flaked off in her direction, haha.

That's too funny! Well, the more you sit on the back porch and eat, and talk to her (and share your food), the better! Keep me updated! [emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji][emoji]128062[/emoji]

2:37am, I went to check on the baby, and it's been moved.  I wandered around the land and I hear them under the shed.  I'm going to go on an expedition to find them tomorrow.  Lone kitten has been picked up, though.  It's so strange to have so much to worry about and yet be relieved by this.  Mama is still eating good.

Thank goodness she moved lone kitty! Now they are all together at least. She sounds like a very good mama kitty!

I concur with you - relieved they are together and that she did not abandon the lone kitten, but wishing they were in the house.

They will be okay under the shed for now though - especially if it keeps the weather out, as you said. Typically, mama kitties bring their babies to a food source once they begin to wean around 4-5 weeks old. I hate for them to not get socialized until then. But they are so dependent the first 3-4 weeks. I did not even handle my kittens much the first 3 weeks, and they were in the house with their stray mom!

How is mama kitty today?

Sorry for the delay.  It's been a busy day.  Had a lot of yard work to catch up on and things (as well as some sleep, haha).  Mama seems less stressed, and more rested and relaxed.  Still eating very good.  I'd really like to have the chance to socialize them.  I hope it's not too late when they start coming out and about.  Putting out the formula for her and stuff, too.

Of course, but that doesn't mean that I can't give her my attention or love.  I've fed her very well and will continue to do so.  Nothing to worry about.  I'll take the best care of her and the kittens as I possibly can.  She's receiving three wet meals a day, constant supply of dry food, and formula.

Good Morning! I'm glad to hear that mama kitty seems to be feeling better - that's good news. It takes new moms a couple of days to settle in after birthing. I know she is getting lots of good food from you so she can keep her babies fed. I think in the coming weeks she will get friendlier and trust you more, and hopefully you can sit down and begin to pet her. By the time her babies come out, she should be okay with you interacting with them. They will still be tiny, and easy to catch and bring inside, and hopefully mama will follow. If not, you can always use a drop-trap borrowed from a local organization. Thanks for the update! [emoji]128522[/emoji][emoji]128077[/emoji]

Hey.  She's doing fine.  Still eating good and getting a little closer and friendlier.  I still haven't been able to pet her unless she was tucked into her food, but at least that's an achievement, haha.  Nothing has really happened to speak about.  I will keep this thread open for anything that happens.  When the kittens come out I'll have pictures and probably more questions.  The kittens are under the shed, but kind of in the middle, so there's no good way to get to them.
