So far, no crying.  They've been sleeping peacefully.  I'm staying up to monitor the storm for them, and so far no bad weather, either.  I live alone with just my elderly mother taking care of her, so it's mostly quiet and there's not much human traffic in and out.  My only animal worry might be coyotes or something, but since I've had Stormy as an outside cat he's pretty much staked a mammal-less territory, haha.  He's taken my bed as revenge.  Thank you for the powder recommendation.  I didn't know it would be that easy.  That's a little bit of information that's relaxing to know.  Their first day on Earth is a little scary.  My mom wants to hover over them, but I keep having to tell her that the mother won't come around if she's watching them like a hawk, haha.

I'm sure your mom wants to hover. I would too, honestly, but it's best for mama kitty if you don't, so she'll lie with her babies and nurse. She needs to rest, too. Birthing and nursing five kittens is a lot of work.

Did the storms ever come? I actually wondered about coyotes. Would they actually come on your porch? Another reason to bring them in, but mama has to come in too.

Let me know how they are today. Is mama kitty eating well?

Oh, and only if you can without freaking mama kitty out, can we get a picture of the kittens? [emoji]128522[/emoji]

I think she's moving them.  At 2:30am there were four in the bed, and at 6am I got up to feed them and there were only two in the bed.  She's eating very well.  She must have gotten sick this morning, because the wet food was thrown up near her water bowl, so I gave her another one and it was gone by 8am.  I'm charging up my old phone now to see if I can get some pictures for you.

I think she's moving them under the shed in the backyard.  She's still eating the food here, so maybe I'll see them again soon.  I went to get pictures and there's only one left.  Caught her in the act of moving it and she dropped it and ran.  I took two pictures, but she was acting really stressed, so I left it alone after that.  Let me know if you can see these or not.  Not sure what the crusty stuff is, it wasn't this dirty earlier.

My fear was that she would move them. Have you been able to ascertain where she put them?

Sounds like she had an upset tummy. Probably a combination of stress, fear, eating too much too fast, etc., but glad she ate again this morning. I doubt she'll go far if you're her food source.

I think she's putting them under the shed out back.  I don't think she's going to go far at all.  That one is still on the porch, she hasn't moved it all day, but she has fed it.  Maybe she's waiting for night time when things calm down a little.

Are you sure she fed the one left behind? She's probably waiting for night fall. Has she continued to come up and eat on the porch?

Don't let your boy out though - it will intimidate her.

Can you explain the "under the shed" setup? Is it safe?

It was crying when I  left her some food around 1:30 this afternoon.  When I came back a few hours later it was sleeping and the food was eaten.  Just fed her a third time and she ate that.  Continuing to nibble the dry food off and on.  Have refilled her water and the dry food.  I assumed she fed it when she came to eat the second time, as it stopped crying and went to sleep.  I would think under the shed is pretty safe.  It may be dustier than up on the porch, but it is better protected from any predators or storms.  There's a sort of empty space where the shed was built up, so they have about 8"-12" of overhead space and the whole footprint horizontally under it.  It doesn't flood or anything, so it might be a good place for her.

Can you check the kitten and make sure it's okay? Can you put the rice sock in with it for warmth now? Hopefully she'll move it tonight with the others. If not, you'll need to immediately step in and hand-rear it. Did you buy KMR? This baby may need to be fed soon. Newborn kittens do not last long without food and warmth.

It's okay for now.  It's just kind of crawling around the bed.  I'm not entirely sure what to look for to know if it's being fed or not.  All I can really tell is that it stopped crying when she ate, and it hasn't started since.  It's just meandering around the bed.  It doesn't seem to care if I pet it.

Thank you for checking. It sounds satiated for now. It would be crying, cold, and/or lethargic if not being fed. Can you put the sock in though? They can't regulate their body temperature yet. That may be some dried discharge on the baby from mom. They spot some after giving birth. Mom will clean it off. I hate them being in the dirt. I don't suppose you're able to see if the babies are in that space under the shed?

Gave the baby another sock, the mother is exhausted, but she's started to not care so much about me being around.  She stayed in the chair right beside me when I gave baby the sock.  Baby is moving around a lot and just started crying.  Mom hasn't left her for long at all, so I'm hoping that she's just waiting for some energy to move it to the rest.  I gave her some chicken and she gobbled it up.  This has taken a lot out of her, but she's got a steady supply of food and water now, so she should recover.

It's too bad you can't get her and those babies inside. I know cats have them outside, but it breaks my heart. Glad the last little one seems okay for now.

I'm going to take the flashlight and try to find them.  I still may be able to try and move them inside.

Poor mama. Delivering and then moving babies and nursing them is very hard. Thank goodness she has you for food support.

I wondered if you could see the babies under the shed, because if so, you could put this baby in with them for her. But if you can't see them, please don't put it there.

Thank you for putting the rice sock in. It will help. I sure hope mama kitty moves this baby tonight. She does seem to be hanging around waiting for the opportunity. It worries me with the litter being separated.

Mama kitty will recover, but it takes time. My mama cat was so exhausted after raising her four, that she started slinking off upstairs to take a long afternoon nap in my bed when her kittens were about 6 weeks old. She left them with me to babysit them! I was honored!

What is happening? I posted above, but am anxious about what you've discovered. It is most important at this time that mama kitty has her litter together and is nursing them. You can get them inside in the coming days. Has she moved her last kitten? I'm worried.

Sorry for the delay, had some computer issues.  I haven't been able to find them yet (note:  I move slowly due to knee injuries, have barely covered part of the area.)  She hasn't moved the kitten yet, but she has came back and cleaned all the crusty stuff off of it, and it's sleeping right now.  Doesn't seem to be in any immediate trouble.  I've given it another rice sock.
